I love Sonic Adventure, but one stupid thing about the XBLA version is that are there achievments for meeting each character rather than completing their stories. !vgp
-
@leonkfox I bought the XBLA version, thinking, "Hey, now I can finally play what everyone says is the best 3D Sonic game!" Yeah, well, everyone lied.
-
@starbuck Sonic Adventure, the best 3D Sonic game? You've got to be joking.
-
@starbuck The game isn't perfect (in fact the only portions I would call great are Sonic and Tails' stages) but I still love the game to pieces.
-
@redenchilada IMO the best 3D Sonic games are Unleashed (day time) and Colours, followed by the Sonic Adventure games.
-
@leonkfox Unleashed Day, agreed. Colors, big no. That game was boring.
-
@redenchilada :O Colours was amazing, a tad too easy yes, but amazing nonetheless!
-
@leonkfox The level design was flat boring (Starlight Carnival 1 being the prime example), Terminal Velocity was not only a lame final stage but also frustrating, the wisps are stupid and disrupt the gameplay, and the writing was awful to boot. Not something I'm happy to have played. ...I only preordered it for the hat.
-
@redenchilada So did I, but I rather enjoyed both the hat and the game.
-
@redenchilada It's a definite improvement compared to Sonic the Hedgehog 06 and Shadow the Hedgehog, though.
-
@ladestitute Yes, but that's like saying instant ramen is an improvement over the leftovers from the Mcdonald's trash cans. It's just a given.
-
@redenchilada The writing seemed better than previous Sonic games to me, I loved how they ditched the serious approach and went back to the good old "Sonic and Tails vs Robotnick/Eggman" plotline, it was all it ever needed to be, and I thought the level designs bar for Planet Wisp were excellent, and the Wisps in the way THAT much.
-
@leonkfox It was worse than Saturday morning cartoon writing.
-
@redenchilada It reminded me of Saturday morning cartoon writing, and I loved it for that reason.
-
@leonkfox I hated it. It tried too hard to make jokes everywhere and ruined everything.
-
@redenchilada It was like a slightly tamer version of AoSTH, which I adored ,even the somewhat more light hearted Unleashed was still a tad too serious at times ,for my liking. The only Sonic things where seriousness worked were SatAM and Sonic Adventure 2, IMO.
-
@leonkfox Unleashed's writing was forgettable, but that's better than being as bad as it was in Colors.
-
@redenchilada Unleashed had goofy cherries moments with Chip, and then epic boderline melodramatic ones with the monster of the week in that game, Colours' tone was consistent, and said tone works for Sonic games so to me it was great.
-
@leonkfox Either way, the actual writing sucked. It was overdone and came off as forced.
-
@redenchilada Well that's your opinion, so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree or else we'll be forever, heh. I personally got quite a lot of chuckles out of it, but yeah, to each their own.
