@eliaphir NO! That's not true, I have been in many communities... and a certain community usually ends up joining in the community at it's peak. That certain community usually doesn't know how to keep their cherries separated and ends up, ruining the community I am apart of... well not so much ruining it as much as taking it over with their particular dumb murdock!!!

!utahbronies Hey Everypony, sorry there hasn't been too much activity in our group lately. I wanted to let you know that there will be a meetup at Liberty Park on September 24th. It will be from 12:00 - 5:00 Pm. Hope to see you there. If you have any questions, let me know.

@gabumon At the last Brony meetup, some people brought a pony or two. One dude even brought the Pinkie Pie bubble thingy. Same guy had a scrapbook-thing. So, nothing too fancy. Are you coming down for it, man?

@dranzypants I'm gonna try to make it to the meet up. That's a wide time slot! Is someone bringing a frisbee or lawn darts? Or croquet? If I make it I'll be bringing Pony toys, customs and some TFs too! And Rainbow themed treats. !utahbronies

@eliaphir As a bit of background here, I don't subscribe to the furry fandom. I do however enjoy a lot of the art that comes out of it. I have no problem with a link between the two, but I wish to point out that one does not imply the other (or vice-versa). The communities, while they share some characteristics, are not explicitly linked - and you'll see people on both sides that will try and dissociate the two (regardless of whether a link is present or not). ~ I'm bothered by generalizations and such, I've ranted on this kind of thing before (not just in the mlp community), and it's a personal feeling of mine.

@eliaphir most fandoms are pretty similar, whether they'd want to admit it or not. It's the subject matter that matters. Where a furry would most likely be concerned with the fact that the characters in the show are talking animals, to the rest of us, it's more about the characters' personalities and interactions and the writing. I'd still watch this show if it was about banana slugs or wood chips or even discarded candy wrappers.

@eliaphir True. Each is a separate entity however with similar traits or means of expression. Your initial statement was that one implied the other.

@quetzalcoatl @eliaphir And that right there is the statement of the day. Bronies are fans of the show (at least a good majority are) - and would be regardless of the anthromorphic (or not) state of the characters.

@eliaphir but furries are a fandom for anthro animals of all levels. I'm not saying that's the only reason, but I am saying that it's what's most likely to get the average furry to bite.

@ponydude2143 Yeah - That's all a good number of people will see though. Fursuits and porn. Reason being that they're easy to report on and will catch attention. They stand out against everything else as something different from the norm. No one cares about the normal people.

@eliaphir well, yeah, I do like the characters for being cute little ponies to some degree. But it just doesn't feel the same. I don't feel a spiritual connection to ponies or desire to be a pony on any real level. Every daydream and fantasy I've had about MLP and being in Equestria, I was still human. I even tried to make a ponysona, and all I got was a dull grey pegasus. I don't really know how to say it.

@eliaphir well, then I guess I really just can't discern the absolute defining quality that makes one a furry. Everytime I engage this subject on a lot of different sites, it always comes to this. At this rate, I'm willing to believe that the only way to be a furry is to be a furry.
