@greydragon412 Well, yes... the HSD is required for Collage or university, and always a requirement for a Job. I have a HSD and was awarded state specific certification in reading and writing proficiency. I also just got my A+ Certification from Comptia, which is a ISO standard in PC repair and maintenance.

@greydragon412 is british, and does not understand our American education system. A diploma, or rather High School Diploma is awarded when a student completes 12-13 years of school as mandated by Federal and state laws. After completing a year in Kindergarten, Grades 1-5 is Primary (Elementary), 6-8 is Middle (or Junior highschool in some places) and 9-12 is secondary (High school).
-
@greydragon412 Okay, that was hilarious. XDDD
-
@cabal Ohh, I've always wanted to be A+ certified. How does one go about doing that?
-
@gangstashy Well, you will need to study for the test. There are several books out there and classes you can take, (but classes are expensive). I got a book from one of Comptia's certified vendors called GTS Learning. Then when you think you are ready, you need to schedual two tests. the 701 essentials and 702 practicals. After passing both tests, you get it after confirming your details on the cert tracker site.

@derps Threatening Cabal? BANHAMMER, GO!
-
@cabal Sounds easy enough! Thanks for the tip!
-
@gangstashy Oh, I squeeked by. Its not as easy as you think. #advice
-
@derps Oh, we are building now? Here is my personal recipe: Rosewill RS-MI-01 BK W/250W PSU, Asrock E350M1 Hudson M1 Mini-ITX mobo W/AMD E-350 APU, Patriot 2GB DDR3/1333 DIMM, Samsung SH-222AB CD/DVD, WD Caviar Blue 320GB, and finally, Windows 7 64-BIT OEM. Total? $340 (Minus peripherals).
-
@derps I don't think you should be building a computer if you don't even know what kind of hard drive to buy first.
-
@cabal the only bad part is the Windows :--)
-
@elind85 Windows 7 is actually pretty good. XP is okay, and Vista is just plain horrible.
-
@ladestitute I have an ME install cd around here somewhere...
-
@colfax ME??? #KILLITWITHFIRE
-
@ladestitute i have no trust in windows, i like unix.
-
@colfax ME? Snrrk. Have fun with those blue screens.
-
@colfax Windows...ME? I had that as my first computer, I think. It came loaded with arcade games like pacman, and centipede.
-
@cabal No, it's my favorite coaster.
-
@zach121k This.
-
@elind85 Yet, have you even tried Windows in the past? What about windows 7? I bet you never tried win7.
-
@cabal i like my setup with 2.7 Ghz Core i7, 8 GB Ram and OSX Lion, i use linux for my server though
-
@elind85 lol Mac. If you pay for a mac machine, your usually being ripped off. Seriously.
-
@ladestitute i've used Win 7 a lot, every day at work for over a year, it's a better windows distro for sure, they copied Mac OSX bigtime on the interface, but it's still terrible in comparison, it hasn't been reliable at all, half the time I have to do work on my macbook because the windows computer is always failing at things
-
@elind85 Besides the exorbitant amounts that Apple charges, You can hardly service the machines yourself. I like upgrading my hardware every so often.
-
@cabal sure you can upgrade them, i just upgraded the ram on my new mac a week ago, you just have to be smarter to work on macs, hehe
-
@elind85 sound like it needs more memory, the 2GB in my machine is too basic.
-
@ladestitute i don't deny that they're more expensive but you get what you pay for with technology. The build quality is far superior. I have used a lot of macs and PC's over the years. PC are fast when they're brand new, but they continually slow down and develop system errors, whereas macs will stay the same as new for long time. After a year my work PC is a bucket of mud, but my macbook is just as fast as the day I bought it
-
@cabal i don't think so, everything I know is self taught, and I know a lot more about macs then the people in the apple stores, hehe
-
@cabal perhaps, but it ran nicely when it was brand new. I run it an extremely light system with minimal apps, most of my work is web based so there's no reason for it to run so poorly, except for it being windows of course, hehe.
-
@elind85 Ah, here we go... http://training.apple.com/certification
-
@cabal yep, i should go and tell them about all the hackintoshes we have in our house lol
-
@elind85 I know that @quetzalcotl 's brother has played with hackintoshes. I don't have time because I just found out how crappy our internet service is... Everyone else is getting cable internet except me and my rural neighbors, thus cannot DL iso fast enough for me to even bother.
-
@cabal i had hackintoshes for a while, but eventually i got tired of how cheap PC build quality is and wanted a real mac
