  1. So, early in the summer, the Studio B website revealed that it was animating 22 episodes for MLPFIM season 2. This conflicted with other sources saying there would be 24 new episodes. I think it was # who cleared it up, saying that there were 24 episodes, but 2 of them (obviously, The Return of Harmony), had been animated at the end of last season. Since animation is generally the last step in production, I think it's probably safe to say that Return of Harmony was originally meant to serve as a series finale in case the show wasn't renewed. Since it WAS renewed, it became part of season 2 instead. || Now in season 2, the EI logo is conspicuously absent, meaning the show is no longer classed as "edutainment". Since one of the major reasons for that classification was Twilight's moral-of-the-week letters, and those letters have served their purpose story-wise in Return of Harmony, I'm wondering if we've seen the last of "Dear Princess Celestia.."

    1. @puzzlemint As 'enforced' as they were... I think I would rather miss them! However, Twi did have a similar declaration to make at the end of part 2, just without the 'Dear Princess' context.

    2. @puzzlemint So your suggesting the @dear princess celestia" letters were just a little thing to cycle round to the season finale? Much like the whole "bad wolf" thing in doctor who(oves)?

      1. @purplephish20 @puzzlemint More like that because of those two episode's content it didn't qualify for the EI bug, that's all.

    3. @puzzlemint Most likely. I'm thinking it dropped the edutainment classification when it moved from a "daytime children's programming" timeslot to a (probably more lucrative) "saturday morning cartoon" and recieved a new classification as a result. I'm REALLY hoping this means that they can/will do more with the show (as Lauren said, working within the censorship laws of the genre she was placed in was one of the most difficult challenges of S1, and she questioned whether the quality could be maintained long-term because of it.)
