It's pretty ironic that a show that was once (rightly) stereotyped as candy-coated stereotypically girlie-girl pap (though the toys were still freaking adorable, I have to admit) is now basically a feminist show. A feminist show with a mostly male audience. A feminist show with a mostly male audience that attracts crowds of hundreds in NYC (BroNYCon), Pittsburgh (Anthrocon's pony panel) and Seattle (Rainfurrest's pony panel). My mind boggles. This show probably deserves its own chapter in any text on gender studies.
