  1. @nightbreak Did the original MLP series have as much cartoon violence as Friendship is Magic or any at all? I noticed quite a bit of that in the new series, e.g., when the ponies fight the manticore in the first episode, and when two ponies drop a piano on Twilight. (On an unrelated note, how in the world does a pony play a piano with hooves?) And that's another thing about bronies: the huge amount of fan content you guys put out (fanfiction, art, videos, music, etc.). As a fanfiction writer, what is it about Friendship is Magic that inspires you to create this content?

    2. @mergemm Like I said, there's a reason it's known as "Dream Valley Is Trying To Kill You". Shows from MLP & Friends involved a drought caused by magic (and a forest fire), vicious giant walking plants, every pony turned to glass, Dream Valley frozen over in eternal winter, ponies turned to stone by a rock dog, etc. (Mind you, our heroes certainly took care of villains. If they didn't repent, they usually destroyed themselves. Only the Witches ever got a second shot at the little ponies. :P)

      1. @nightbreak That sounds like more unintentional nightmare fuel than even G4.

        1. @eaglehooves We children of the 80s keep saying we turned out fine! :D But all 80s cartoons were like that to some degree. Rainbow Brite had scary moments, Captain N (I think it was that show) had glowing green zombie people with balls & chains marching to the Ghostbusters theme.... Heck, even the Real Ghostbusters had Nightmare Fuel (like the Sandman or the Boogeyman episodes). Oooh, there's a crossover idea. :D

          1. @nightbreak Ah. I'm a child of the 90's who grew up with one of the worst TVs in the area (Living near a PBS tower killed the other stations in anything but perfect weather), so I missed a lot of that. Most of what I watched was Loony Tunes on tape, and I think I turned out ok.

            1. @eaglehooves Yeah, you turned out just fine. :D Just as long as you never watched My Little Pony Tales in the 90s. *shudder* They were pretty much humans, even using their hooves to hold things like peashooters and pencils.

              1. @nightbreak *shutter* I dodged that the first time around, my sis never liked ponies, but she got me with them recently. She knows I've seen FiM (She has no idea I'm this into it), and bought me a G4 Pinkie Pie as a gag gift. I was thrilled, until she sent me a G3 coloring book. She doesn't seem to grasp the difference.

                1. @eaglehooves Did you cleanse the book with holy fire?

                  1. @purplephish20 No... The ones she colored for me are actually sitting on my nightstand. Even if they are G3, I still got my sis to notice ponies.

                2. @eaglehooves *snarf* Yeah, people don't get the difference. "It's the same show!" "Oohhh, no it's not." That's like saying the A-Team movie was the same thing as the TV show.

    3. @mergemm And the cartoon violence eps (Pinkie Keen and Over a Barrel) both were written by Dave Polsky. He seems to favour the classic Chuck Jones gags like falling pianos and pie fights.
