@thebrilliantspy Need to learn to read a bit. It's a censorship bill in congress looking to block sites that share media (movies, music) and punish that which shares or spreads that kind of material.

@haganbmj It's more than just that. It would restrict ENTIRE sites if they contained even tiny amounts of links to 'bad stuff'. As with every law in this country, it's dangerously overreaching.

@purpletinker I'm aware of that, any reference to or link to material of the sort is a valid target. Looks to suppress the funds and validity of websites if they slip up.

@thebrilliantspy lol, yep - I'm aware. I see a lot of people overreacting without actually reading the info (even if it does warrant that reaction). ~ People need to read before they speak. Happens all the time in the Magic the Gathering community, and people just seem to never learn.

@purpletinker I guess I should be thankfull my country only has a tenth of the parliament on twitter, half of them dont know how to use a computer, and the country still has the biggest problem doing ANYTHING digital... I hope this is a little bit diffrent in America, I mean they must at least know what the internet is for they both invented in and cooked up that rediculous bill

A huge crowd of internet monkeys standing outside the Congress building with there tents and lack of showers making a public display of that censorship bill getting shoot down. All screaming, 'VETO! VETO! VETO!' And Obama stamps it down and they all cheer or something and its just wonderful....

@thebrilliantspy Nah, I love searching around to reading up on it myself. It's awfully difficult to read the actual bill, but I gave it a shot - at least skimming the sections. ~ Most people just jump to the first thing someone says and run with it, instead of actually interpreting the words and drawing their own conclusion.

Offenses: Whoever "intentionally traffics or attempts to traffic in labels, patches, stickers, wrappers, badges, emblems, medallions, charms, boxes, containers, cans, cases, hangtags, documentation, or packaging of any type or nature, knowing that a counterfeit mark has been applied thereto, the use of which is likely to cause confusion, to cause mistake, or to deceive, or". ~~ Which is really talking about counterfeit drugs, supplies, economic practice, etc ~~ I'm not very knowledgeable in legal procedure, but that seems fine

@haganbmj Yeah a ban on counterfit, thats fine. But from what i just heard they would ban the website doing this AND any website that they put advertising on, which isnt really ok.

@thebrilliantspy Mhm, it's just hard to fully understand. And from what I understand as well, what you said would also be the case. The bill is flawed, and it shouldn't pass - but we'll just have to wait and see - and should it come into effect, we'll have to wait and see what the outcome of that will be fully.

@purpletinker so ehmm... america is a country with 1% of its inhabitants living as millionaires... and 50% of the congress consists of millionaires... meanwhile 99.9^ of congress consists of crusty old white dudes who know nothing of/about the latest technologies and/or generation... ... ... something is amiss here

@purpletinker not at all, I was stating that the American congress seems to consist of only people who are rich, and since there are virtually no rich young people, ( thus the "young" oppinions and needs are not thrown into congress... although they should be ). The American Congress, nay, perhaps the whole political system would feel like a biassed system to me... That means it is in no way interesting to know whether they even know what a computer, space shuttle, hot rod, or even a pony even looks like.

@pinhooves As much as I loved Toronto, when I practically lived there for a few months 5 or 6 years ago, most likely BC, by virtue of being closer, and also being easier to get to dark skies. I'd probably head more toward Chilliwack, since I've been there a few times over the last few years, and really liked the area. Vancouver is just a bit too urban for me. (One of the reasons I very seldom go into Portland proper.)
