@purpletinker Computer Technicians are a dying breed because of the cloud. y/n?

@cabal Donno. I'm a coder. I don't care if my code runs on a cloud. :>
-
@cabal If I may state my opinion on the matter, no. most people even with the information and resources to repair things, manage to mess up by clumsyness, ignorance, fear, or bad luck. So even with cloud computing, there's need for technicians.
-
@purpletinker *mumbles* I hate math.
-
@cabal Are you on something, man?
-
@purpletinker no. Just low.
-
Milo likes this.
-
@nerthos ... Virtual machines are implemented with code, and since most coders are hardware proficient, there is no need for technicians.
-
@cabal But just on a porfessional environment. Maybe a little lack of employement could come, but the average user would still need them.
-
@nerthos I probably am being biased, seeing how I live 50 miles away from everything.
-
@cabal I'm at ~35 miles from the capital of the country, but still, the need for technicians is somewhat high. Decreasing a little, yes, but still a problem that comes with cloud computing and internet, is that there's abundance of information. That means virtually anyone could find a guide to fix most problems, but it means too that lots of wrong or "troll" to call it like that, information is available too. And only people with a certain degree of knowledge is able to distinguish a legit guide from something written by someone misinformed or trolling, so there will be an increase of the demand for that reason, people ruining their computers when following internet information.
-
@nerthos Yes... if they were soliciting from 4chan.
-
@cabal Certainly the fact that most try to avoid sites like 4chan is true, but lots of forums and places like yahoo answers, that most users check are full of guys who think they know what they're typing, but don't have a real knowledge over the matter.
-
@cabal Rage indeed xD I mostly work insid the town, though. There was an increase of the sales of computers in the last years here.
