I feel kind of bad for Equestria Online. They've worked so hard for their inevitable shutdown via Cease and Desist.
-
@ceruleanspark I'm going to guess that a cease and desist hasn't happened yet though? I wouldn't be surprised, but that would suck.

@fallinwinter Not yet, but unless they've designed the project in such a way they can "debrand" it easily, it's going to be a killer.
-
@fallinwinter If I honestly thought Fighting is Magic was ever going to see a release, I'd say the same about that.
-
@ceruleanspark I'm definitely not too knowledgeable on laws and whatnot, but could they really do anything about it as long as their not having anyone pay them? It's kind of like asking them to take down fanfiction or non-commissioned fanart.

@fallinwinter Dozens of fangames based on other franchises have been shuttered by cease and desist orders, almost all of them free.
-
@ceruleanspark I honestly don't know any that have, so I wouldn't know. I can't rule out the possibility that they might, but Hasbro and the other working on the show have tended to give a pretty good amount of leeway so far.

@fallinwinter The Chrono Trigger fandom is one that seems to have fan-titles C&D'd about once a week.
-
@ceruleanspark Is there any valid reason companies have other than it's their property? (Not like they need any other reason I suppose)
Monday, 16-Jan-12 12:31:46 UTC from web-
@fallinwinter That is the reason more or less.
-
@ceruleanspark The stupidity of that for the most part saddens me. Oh well. How was your day and/or night?

@fallinwinter I started playing Skyrim yesterday. That game sure is a lot of fuss about nothing. It's fun, sure, but it isn't Jesus returned from on high in videogame form the way the populace of the internet would have me believe. I have done literally nothing else. How about you?
-
@ceruleanspark Spent a good part of my day working on saving various time/date combinations for my persona pony game thing. (A bit ironic now after talking about the whole cease and desist thing) I honestly didn't go nuts over Skyrim either. My guess is that it's kind of like the Call of Duty syndrome. After playing how many games with generally similar gameplay, it loses its luster.

@fallinwinter Skyrim is actually my first elder scrolls game. I think what I'm about to say is generally heresy, but I liked Fallout 3 and NV better.
-
@ceruleanspark Ah, I only really played Oblivion and bought morrowind, but never felt willing to play past the very beginning. I enjoyed both FO3 and Oblivion more than Skyrim, at the least from the amount of time I've played it, but I definitely put Skyrim above FO:NV.

@fallinwinter I didn't like NV until I replayed it, but I think I like it more than Skyrim. That might be because I like Fallout more than generic fantasy setting or whatever the world in the elder scrolls is called.
-
@ceruleanspark I dunno, for some reason the world of FO:NV just wasn't explorable to me for some reason. I'm sure it actually is, but I just couldn't get myself to walk anywhere and explore unless I was told to do so for a quest. The story itself didn't draw me in too much either. To each his own though.

@fallinwinter Actually, that's exactly what I did on my replay. I didn't do any the quests. (I in fact, fatally botched the starting quest) and just wandered around the wasteland looking at things, and found I had a really fun time.
-
@ceruleanspark I'm honestly not even sure where my game is anymore. It's been a while. Actually, since playing Persona 3 & 4 I've barely even touched my Xbox. I've got a few games left from Christmas, but I've played for maybe 6 hours cumulatively.
