@redenchilada You mods are on your side, why not give the users a side too, let us decide for ourselves instead of just assuming you know what's best? RDN is a community and we all should have an equal say, it's not limited to just the mods

@redenchilada I took a quick look in the history re: abusing color codes. You referenced a rule -- are these rules posted somewhere prominent? I scimmed the TOS but didn't see anything regarding abusing codes/colors/etc...

@another1 There are avenues for seeking redress, by talking to the admins via e-mail. Show a bit of good-faith with the tools provided, and things might turn out different.

@redenchilada I see... it looks like that rule is referring more to repeated posts, calls for attention, etc. The rule itself doesn't contain anything regarding repeated color codes or hashtags or anything of the sort being included with genuine dashes... It doesn't look like he violated rule 4... however in his last post, he did violate rule 3, and is currently violating 5...

@macpony55 While I do agree with MacPony here, I would also like to point out that free, easy-to-setup email accounts -are- available, and according to the rules, greydragon should contact an admin to arrange a civil discussion...

@macpony55 We're giving him alternate means with which to discuss the matter with us. How moderators handle things is not up to the users to decide.

@redenchilada While that is entirely true, it also seems to be elevating the problem.

@redenchilada As I have already said, this is a community, the users use the site more than the mods, thus they should be given at least a little credit for knowing what is best

@macpony55 Not in all cases... if that were rule-of-law, the Court of Public Opinion would basically be able to be leveraged by people appealing a potentially justified ban. It's up to the admins to set acceptable policy and to enforce it when needed, to avoid that sort of scenario that can possibly upend a site like RDN.

@redenchilada Not very useful if he's using a dynamic address (DHCP-assigned). If a MAC address or a more solid hostname can be pinned to him, it's more likely to work.

@chiefanchor Can't block MAC address over the net, the web browser doesn't send those. Even if you did it's easy to get software to spoof it.

@forestrain Most people seem to have that issue when they change emails, apparently. You'll probably need to ask @purpletinker about it, though.
