  1. I ask about bars and coffee and meetups mostly in order to gauge whether this is a good place or a bad place to vent about not really liking any of it anymore. I need more friends than I have, but basically what I've been doing is introducing myself to people, having small talk, and doing pointless things together like pub trivia. Is there a way to really bond with people, apart from hunting down a corrupted unicorn that hid the sun?

    1. @blots What kind of person can't bond over drinking?

    2. @blots I can't say much about bars and coffee, but the only way I've found to really bond with people is through mutual self-sacrifice. incidentally, the only people I've ever truley bonded with are certain family members, some friends at church, and my wife. It takes a lot of effort to connect to people which is why it seems it happens so rarely, but you might be more apt to succeed if you find the right irl community (e.g. religious).

      1. @pony although, bars and coffee are good :) but bonding with others is work, that's for sure. Some people just don't want to bond, either *shrug*

        1. @bladeshadowmane right! I tend to prefer to avoid seeking out new relationships but at the same time I usually welcome them when sought after by others. So in order to facilitate positive relatioships I try to surround myself with ponys who share my choice of lifestyle and at least some of basic my beliefs, then I just make myself available by going to social functions with these people.. not trying to force anything with them of course, but letting things click naturally.

          2. @pony I agree with all of that! Haha, didn't Twilight Sparkle once say: "If you try to please everypony, you oftentimes end up pleasing no pony, especially yourself."
