    1. @forestrain how did you do that???? that luna is my desktop wallpaper!

Sunday, 12-Feb-12 00:45:16 UTC from web
      1. @purplephish20 Printable sticker paper. Just took the faceplate off the guitar, stuck on the printed page, and reattached. If I can find some thin plastic, I'll cut it to shape and put it overtop to protect the image. :) (Also had to size the picture of Luna to the right size for printing in Photoshop.)

          1. @purplephish20 Well, I'm quite PS savvy, so I took a pic of my guitar faceplate, and set it up so it was basically a mask, and placed the image within it, so I could figure out the best placement/size/etc. If you can take a straight-on pic of your faceplate, and then give me some measurements of it, I could do a mockup for yours as well.

              1. @purplephish20 Would you be able to measure how long the plate is from say... the exact centre between the two middle strings, from where the neck starts to the edge of the plate?

                1. @forestrain i could, but not right now as im at the wrong house

                  1. @purplephish20 No problem. I'll have an image for you shortly, but just a mockup. Once we get measurements, we can create an image the exact right size for you.

                          1. @purplephish20 Lol, no worries. It was just done quick. Once you have some measurements, we can make a template that you can print out on sticker paper. (Hopefully that plate is smaller than 8.5"x11" ;p )

                            1. @forestrain ok, im at the house with the guitar now, how exactly should i measure it? it doesnt have any writing on it as specifications, would it say the size on the other side of the scratchplate? or should i apply a tape measure to a specific spot? and if so, where exactly? I could get the distance between these four corners if thats good enough? http://ur1.ca/84pq4

Sunday, 12-Feb-12 17:20:03 UTC from web
                              1. @purplephish20 Use a measuring tape to measure the length of the plate in between the two centre strings, from where it meets the neck to where it ends at the bridge.

                                  2. @purplephish20 Yessir! Exactly like that! That pic we're using for the mockup is almost straight-on, so if I can get that one measurement fairly accurate, I should be able to size Luna appropriately. It wont' be -SUPER- exact (mine wasn't either), but you should be able to place it nicely when sticking it on, and can make small size adjustments if needed.

                                          2. @purplephish20 And here's what that same template looks like when "cut to size". http://ur1.ca/85za6

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 15:56:00 UTC from web
                                            1. @forestrain what do i do about screwholes and what did you mean by getting some plastic to cover it?

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 15:57:54 UTC from web
                                          3. @purplephish20 The template is regular letter sized paper (8.5"x11"), with a resolution of 150 dots per inch. So if you print it out at full size on sticker paper, it should be the exact right size for your guitar plate. You just have to position it nicely, stick it on, and cut. ^.^

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 15:57:36 UTC from web
                                            1. @forestrain I have some a4 sticker paper, is that first one the exact size then?

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 15:58:57 UTC from web
                                              1. @purplephish20 Yup, that first one would be what you'd print, second one is just to show you the placement. (Should be the exact same as that mockup picture.) I took my plate right off the guitar, and stuck it on. For the screw holes, just use a pin to poke through the hole and widen it a bit, so you can see where your screws go when you screw it back down.

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:02:30 UTC from web
                                                1. @forestrain Right, ill get my shoes on, bag up my laptop, and then head somewhere i can print it, but what about protection? whatve you done to your scratchplate to keep the image safe?

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:03:58 UTC from web
                                                  1. @purplephish20 Haven't actually done anything to it yet, and it's held up surprisingly well. I was thinking of finding some thin plastic to cut to size and position directly overtop, but so far I haven't scratched the image at all. >.>

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:05:36 UTC from web
                                                    1. @forestrain i figure it out..... maybe a thin thin thin layer of tape? or... something...

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:07:06 UTC from web
                                                      1. @purplephish20 Sure. If you're taking it to a print shop, they might have some ideas as well.

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:09:09 UTC from web
                                                  2. @purplephish20 One thing I was thinking of trying was spray-on laminate. Not sure how well it works, but it should protect it.

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:06:09 UTC from web
                                              2. @purplephish20 Also, looks like a4 paper is ever-so-slightly smaller. If you're printing with a graphics program, it should be able to print at 100% size, just make sure to centre it. If not, I can resize the template to exact a4 dimensions.

Tuesday, 14-Feb-12 16:04:06 UTC from web
