I'm excited for the game, but I have to ask, why is Assassin's Creed III called 3 when there've been 2 games since ACII? #ChronologicallyConfused !vgp

@leonkfox Because of storylines. Broterhood and Revelations were sequels to the AC2 storyline.

@nerthos Which were in turn continuing the story from the first game. Assassin's Creed II continued Desmond's story (and in ACI he was actually the most interesting character in the whole game) and was titled as such, never got why Brotherhood and Revelations weren't for the same reason.

@leonkfox Time gaps? How many years pass since AC1 to AC2? And how many since AC2 to Broterhood or Revelations?

@nerthos I thought all of the games took place right after one another? (From Desmond's perspective. Brotherhood picked up from virtually the second ACII ended)

@leonkfox Desmond is the main character of the series. The games are numbered based on the character you play as in the Animus. Brotherhood and Revelations were still about Ezio, so they're still part of ACII. ACIII means we're going to be getting a whole new character and a whole new time period to play with. But you're still going to be Desmond on the outside.
