My problem with the logic is that, if I'm counting something, I want the lowest possible amount I can count by to be one. A better solution than simply abolishing the penny would be to increase the worth of the dollar so that they can matter again.

@redenchilada That is unfortunately not arbitrary- the worth of a dollar is set by the market and inflation. Fighting inflation isn't as simple as changing one value in a balance sheet somewhere.

@toksyuryel Hey, I'm not saying it's easy. But doing so would solve more problems than just that of what to do with a penny.

@redenchilada It would also cause more problems if it's done too hastily. Baby steps first ☺

@toksyuryel you know, I'm not completely sure about this, but hasn't almost every major nation that had to "reset" or change the currency also gone through a major change in government power/structure at the same time.

@gingersnap Brazil pulled it off without any of that.

@toksyuryel Of course it would be done gradually. I didn't say it shouldn't.

@redenchilada Trying to set the currency to an specific value already happened in my country. It stood ten years as ar$1=~us$1, and eventually caused an economic crisis. Not one of those things the guys from usa call a crisis, with a little 7% of unenployment, but like, 30% The only way to raise the value of a coin is by raising the production of all areas of the country in relation with the rest of the world.

@nerthos I'm not saying there's a magic cure to inflation. I'm saying figuring it out would give pennies a use again. Personally, I don't know _how_ we'd do it!

@redenchilada There's plenty of uses for them on the internet! They're good ammunition as far as I know.
