Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:14:12 UTC from web
          1. @nerthos safe mode?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:15:13 UTC from web

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:19:51 UTC from web
                1. @rozeluck No, safe mode means the drivers are disabled. It just runs the OS and basic drivers. It's meant to fix software problems.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:23:30 UTC from web
                  1. @nerthos what have you done with your computer now?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:49:22 UTC from web
                    1. @rozeluck Nothing. I'm trying to make it work as it should instead of freezing.

                      1. @nerthos Oh xD how old is it?

                        1. @rozeluck It was almost top tier gaming rig in december last year.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:53:18 UTC from web

                            1. @rozeluck What company?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:56:20 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos where you got it from?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:57:05 UTC from web
                                1. @rozeluck Bought the pieces and built it.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:57:56 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos Oh ok xD complain to yourself then xD

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:00:20 UTC from web
                                    1. @rozeluck Meh, it worked perfectly for four months. Something in the software got corrupted, I'll just reinstall and have it all running again. Buying from a company is stupid, the prices are outrageous.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:01:45 UTC from web
                                      1. @nerthos not mine xD its from Medion and rougly costed 3400 DKK (610$) with my screen and my laptop is from Acer and costed 3000 DKK (55$)

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:14:07 UTC from web
                                        1. @rozeluck But compare with the pieces OEM

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:15:08 UTC from web
                                          1. @nerthos Eh? OEM? Wha?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:17:00 UTC from web
                                            1. @rozeluck OEM software is only meant to be bundled with a new computer and generally isn't allowed to be sold seperately.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:20:59 UTC from Choqok
                                              1. @omni ...but it is anyway for redicously low prices compared to retail.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:25:47 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                1. @techdisk42 True, especially since the "retail value" of Windows 7 seems to be around 200 euro here (and with that I mean the price it's sold for, I wouldn't want it for free) compared to less than 50 euro if it's OEM. Even though it's the exact same product in both cases.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:28:19 UTC from Choqok
                                                  1. @omni yeah... It's crazy! How can a bit more packaging cost hundreds more?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:29:58 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                    1. @techdisk42 It can't. It's merely abusing their almost-monopoly position. On the Microsoft site itself they're asking 200 euro for JUST Microsoft Word, not even the whole Office pack. I think it's insane that people actually pay that much money, but oh well.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:31:49 UTC from Choqok
                                                      1. @omni heh, office. My dad got the full Office 2007 enterprise pack from his company a while back for free. I read the labels on the DVD case, and it says that you can't install it on more than one computer using that disk. Oopsie then, I might have installed it on about 8 different computers? Oh? Microsoft wants money for those extra computers? NO.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:35:48 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                        1. @techdisk42 That's not how you spell the completely Free in every sense of the word productivity suite called LibreOffice. What's a mic-ro-soft? sounds dirty.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:37:41 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                          1. @jdagrapesy #

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:39:02 UTC from Choqok
                                                          2. @jdamangoesy well hey, my dad got the disk from his company free, and I rather like installing it on as many computers as I can as a way to flip off M$.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:41:08 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                        2. @techdisk42 That works I guess. The first thing I do when I get a Microsoft Office CD is asking if anyone else wants it to continue and install LibreOffice on my system. I trust Microsoft as much as the length I can throw Denver. And for your info, I can't even lift a city.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:38:49 UTC from Choqok
                                                          1. @omni well hey, I use Linux too! I have used libreoffice on Ubuntu and I do like it. Its just not everyday that you can get your hands on a M$ product for free legit. I use office on win 7, and libre on Ubuntu.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:46:50 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                          2. @omni I'm sure fluttershy could lift Denver if somepony told her there were little critters trapper under it but alas I digress, free software is the way to go, especially when the software is as mature and feature-full as LibreOffice.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:47:08 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                          2. @nerthos whatever it was, it was obsolete the moment you bought it.

                            1. @techdisk42 What?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:56:38 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos ? Sorry, my iPod doesn't have an "in context" button... Which post u replying to?

                                1. @techdisk42 "It was obsolete the moment you bought it"

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 16:58:29 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos ah, the moment you buy anything tech, it is either immediately outdated, or is made outdated extremely quickly. Though, you did build the computer, so it's at least updatable. Sometimes I hate how fast technology moves...

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:01:01 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                    1. @techdisk42 Even with new technologies coming out constantly, the motherboard supports 4X the RAM it has, any AM3/AM3+ processor, and any PCIE GPU, so I can easily upgrade it. And without any upgrade, it should be a good PC for at least three years.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:04:46 UTC from web
                                      1. @nerthos yep! Never said it wasn't good! Only that no matter how hard anyone tries, they will never have "the best"

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:06:06 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                        1. @techdisk42 Mostly because "The best" is never out in the market.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:07:51 UTC from web
                                          1. @nerthos good point. Either that, or some military has it.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:08:37 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                            1. @techdisk42 Bah, military never has the best either. They aren't the manufacturers. Everything they have they buy from companies, one or two years after the technology is developed.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:10:11 UTC from web
                                              1. @nerthos @techdisk42 The military goes with the lowest bidder, you never get someone's best that way.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:11:12 UTC from web
                                                1. @colfax Yup. They have just enough to work.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:12:27 UTC from web
                                                2. @colfax kinda like my school system. Except they go for the stuff that wasn't bid on an was thrown away. 20 years ago.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:12:28 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                  1. @techdisk42 ok, more like 5 years ago, but you get the point.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:13:26 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                  2. @techdisk42 @nerthos Government contractors are like doctors, they get to bury their mistakes.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:13:48 UTC from web
                                                    1. @colfax yep! And if pro is good and con is bad, isn't progress the opposite of congress?

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:15:05 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                                                    2. @colfax Lol'd.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:15:29 UTC from web
                                                      1. @nerthos I used to have an aunt that was head of procurment at Picatinny Arsenal and over the years I'd heard innumerable horror stories about the crap she had to deal with.

Thursday, 29-Mar-12 17:16:30 UTC from web
