@lyokotravels I've BSOD-ed on 7 too. It's just that the BSOD means its broken, but not totally bucked in my experience.

@eaglehooves sounds like my old iPod. Except from the amount of times I dropped it/skated on it/buried it in the snow I'd say I've done some damage to the disk itself.

@renovatedkitchen In hindsight, I think I know when it started to go bad. I let it get north of 80C once, which probably cooked it.

@eaglehooves I've gotten a billion and one BSODs from my old win 7 laptop, and about 5 from my new one. I got one the day i bought it. Damn graphics card driver crashed playing minecraft, and BSODed the computer. They partially fixed this with an updated driver, but it only solved the BSOD. the driver still crashes.

@techdisk42 I BSOD'ed thanks to my graphics driver a few times, and a few times it's flashed, then come back without Aero, and once I had Wolfram eat all the RAM, CPU [i]and[/i] swap space, hang for half an hour, then black screen.

@eaglehooves I have switchable graphics on my laptop, but I can control it with a literal switch. It flashes whenever I switch the graphics. It's also how I play minecraft; the integrated graphics don't crash.

@techdisk42 I've got one of those too, plus a Nvidia NVS 4200M. The Intel is pretty laggy.

@eaglehooves my real GPU is an AMD Radeon something or other... I can't remember the exact number, but it runs skyrim on high at 1366x768 stable, and 1600x900 with some lag. I love that laptop.

@eaglehooves keep a budget in mind. Less is more. And DON'T skimp on your PSU. I did and had TERRIBLE voltage surge.

@ponydude I have no idea. HD 3000 is still crap for everything else, but minecraft runs ok. I would still much rather a working dedicated GPU

@ponydude well I do know that on my old intel HD 2000 laptop, windows couldn't run minecraft whatsoever on fancy, and at around 14 FPS on fast with me constantly changing render distance. On the same computer, minecraft ran perfectly fine on fancy using Linux. Another reason Windows sucks.
