    1. @valiantratchet What's there to get? Self-obsessed modern man tramples over greek mythology while completely missing the philosophy and mind-set of the time period...

      1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Well, God of War is the classical greek hero - he just doesn't fail.

        1. @hakupony but...but the classical greek hero does fail. Because fate is hard, and he is ultimately not as powerful as the olympians. That is where the god of war games fail, by giving Kratos control over his own destiny...something greek mythology is very adamant about man NOT having.

          1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Yes, they don't play everything straight as homer did. Do they get it wrong because of that? No, because philosophy changed Greece, Protagoras or Plato would absolutely not agree with Homers stories.

            1. @hakupony I disagree on that front. Plato was very much into fate and that the noblest way to live was to accept it(fate). My point is not that the god of war games are wrong...it is that they are steeped in modern thinking, which is fundamentally different from how people thought at the time the games are supposed to happen. To a degree, that is inevitable, but Kratos is still a bit jarring to me.

        1. @valiantratchet well I never got a psp so I am not ashamed to ask: are you saying that Kratos is an olympian himself? Because that would pretty much invaludate my argument. :)

          1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Kratos is the illegitimate son of zeus son of a human woman and a god making him a demi god so he is an Olympian in a way yes

            2. @valiantratchet That's noch really more as Hercules who is treated as a hero - if not the hero.

              1. @hakupony Yeah but kratos is a pure gary stu for the most part zeus ares and athena treat him like royalty for no real reason after number 1 #

                1. @valiantratchet Yeah, but that is nothing original to GoW. It would be easier listing the not Gary Stus in modern action games - because we all know the story doesn't really matter.

                  1. @hakupony I would argue that Gabriel from castlevania lords of shadow was well developed but I'm just a fanboy

                      1. @hakupony If you like action games I would recommend it but the camera is a tad wonky

                        1. @valiantratchet I'm more a RPG player but I'll keep that in mind.
