  1. So, since I've taken in approximately 310 calories today so far, I can plan to have three more meals...One beef patty with roughly 330 calories, maybe a handful of walnuts or pistachios with around 170 calories, and maybe another slice of cheese with 200 calories if I get hungry. Assuming I don't, I'll have burned away more than 1,000 calories today by doing absolutely nothing. Then I can repeat the same regiment for tomorrow and Saturday and, by the end of Sunday, I'll actually be able to see and feel a physical difference in my size. Isn't that fascinating?

    1. @clayinthecarpet That calorie stuff is such a plain old load of bollocks. Eat what you are going to use in a day, never mind the numbers. That's what we did in the military, and we all come out just fine.

      1. @mrdragon Actually, it's science...Dietary science...not bollocks...and it works. :)

      2. @mrdragon My body burns, at a more or less base level, around 1,900 to 2,000 calories a day just to stay alive. If I only take in half that amount daily, even if I do absolutely NOTHING else, not even work out, I will be losing 1/5 of a pound of fat every day.

        1. @clayinthecarpet Starving yourself isn't gonna make you fit. Your body needs ~2500 calories a day to work right. Just exercise and don't eat a million big macs and you'll lose weight.

          1. @redenchilada I didn't say I wanted to be fit...I said I wanted to lose weight. I weigh around 185 right now and healthy weight for me is around 173 or less, per my height. I don't particularly want to go to the gym right now, so I'm doing it this way. It's just a slightly more extreme method of what a dietician would suggest, is all.

            1. @clayinthecarpet Eating less than a thousand calories a day is crash dieting and is a horrible idea. You don't need a gym membership to exercise, either; just do anything that takes a good amount of energy to do, especially if your goal is just a few pounds off. (I like DDR-type games for the purpose, if you need an idea.)

              1. @clayinthecarpet I'm going to agree with @redenchilada here; eating less than this amount is borderline starvation as well. You'll just find yourself out of energy a lot more and that's never good. Something as simple as taking a walk is a good place to start for exercise.

                1. @awlderpy Oddly enough, I have a gym membership. I simply don't want to gain any muscle mass right now, though I realize how counter-productive that is because lean muscle mass burns fat, etc.

              2. @redenchilada I will admit, it's a bit extreme, but I regret that there may be no talking me out of it. I literally sit in this chair all day long until I go to sleep lately, so no big deal.
