still struggling to get Thunderbird to fetch mail from Google Apps accounts... upgraded Thunderbird, removed password ... it connects to the mail server but does not even prompt for a password - or claims there is no new mail (there is). #stumped

@mk whatever I try or do (changing port, changing protocol...) Thunderbird also does not report any error let alone prompt for a password. Looks like the mail server is just not responding at all??? Cannot find anything online either *sigh*

I just found it's not only Google Apps mail that doesn't work - regular Gmail doesn't either. :( Mail servers simply don't respond. Cannot see or open any mail since the 17th. Other mail accounts DO work in Thunderbird, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the client. !grrr
