I think I've just got a big obsession with karambits or something, they look like velociraptor talons

@rarity Great for slicing but not much else.

@awlderpy also great for looking hella sweet

@rarity I prefer a nice linear blade to cut, serrated edge is a plus. Then again I'm a sadist... and a stealth-based fighter.

@awlderpy if someone is tied up, any knife will do just fine though
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:01:20 UTC from web-
@rarity If someone's tied up you don't need a knife.
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:02:26 UTC from web-
@nerthos yes you would, to cut the rope
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:03:56 UTC from web-
@rarity Just go He-Man and tear the rope into bits

@rarity Eh I don't believe in proving a point in that kind of thing. I've seen too much of that unnecessary crap in my life.

@awlderpy Useful if you manage to pin down the target. Otherwise a bayonet, military knife or bowie will be better.

@nerthos Too messy to slice, you only do that kind of stuff if you're sick in the head and/or making a point.
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:01:07 UTC from web-
@awlderpy Yeah, it's not a tool for a clean kill.

@awlderpy @nerthos to be fair, if you're an untrained moron like me, wouldn't a bigger blade that I can use in a punching motion be better?
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:03:28 UTC from web-
@rarity It's better even for trained people, more force more leverage.
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:05:39 UTC from web-
@awlderpy I just mean that in the rare possibility of me being in need of a knife, I'd prefer to have one that doesn't need me to have things like "proper grip" or "technique". I'd just like to clench my fist as hard as I can to make sure I don't accidentally slip and stab myself
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:07:42 UTC from web-
@rarity Barring straight up knife fights which are really uncommon you won't need technique for most any knife.
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:08:45 UTC from web-
@awlderpy I just imagined two people having a swordfight with tiny knives and can't stop laughing
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:10:00 UTC from web-
@rarity it'd be more like circling around and then over in a second. I've done them with rubber tipped knives in mcmap and it's not nearly as cool as hollywood makes it out to be.

@mylittlesistercantbethisincestual yeah, I know. But my tired imagination is fun
Monday, 13-Jan-14 04:13:54 UTC from web-
@rarity I always pictured them as that obnoxiously difficult quick time event battle with Krauser from RE4 but they never lived up to that.

@rarity That's not too wrong an image to conjure either, is what's funny (we were quite thouroughly trained with this)

@rarity Yeah. A 20-30cm blade would be ideal for a fighting knife. Straight blade though.
