    1. @oracle I doubt collage credits are going to get you higher then that, you'll need to spend time actually in the force to get higher.

    2. @oracle You'd get form E-2 to E-3 in no time, honest. It's not that big of a loss, and it'd ensure you get the best experience first, E-3 duties are more then what you'd have as an E-2. Best to start low and work up.

    3. @oracle i'm pretty sure Air Force does E-3 like the Navy. Army does E-4 only Marines leave it at E-2. Also junior enlisted pick up rank quick and do the same thing anyways so no difference.

    4. @snowcone hey my 32,700 including BAH for a dependent at E-4 is a lot of money.

      1. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual I find it amusing that a starting solider in the British Armed Forces, whom only get's £16,000 a year, makes more if you convert it to $ then a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force on E-5.

        1. @mrdragon I don't.

          1. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Amusing may have been the wrong word, but hey, I'm on my second bottle of wine. The Engrish vocabulary isn't easy.

            1. @mrdragon 32k a year for 3 people as a sole income is not so hot.

              1. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Do you mean you have a 32K income for you and two others living with you, or that 32 is splity between three people in your force.

                1. @mrdragon the former.

                  1. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Hate to ask, but you'd have to spell it out for me, my understanding systems of my brain aren't in shape

                    1. @mrdragon I have a wife and kid. My base salary plus the stipend I get for housing and food totals to $32.7k at E-4. I'm currently the only source of income.

                      1. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Ahh, I see now. I'd need £12,000 a year just to suppor myself, base rent of a 1-2 bedroom home/flat is around £400-600, then there's teh council tax, utlity bills, food.. I can't even imagine what'd be like to try and bring a family up on that, especially as you are only running on around £8,000 more.

                        1. @mrdragon in a word. Difficult. I get hazard pay right now but that's negligible. Hopefully when I get back I can help my wife find a job.

                          1. @mylittlesistercantbethisincestual Nothing wrong with that indeed, even if she say, had a two day job, that only brought in around 3-4,000 a year. That's still 3-4,000 a year more. And means she can still be around for your child and yourself.

                            1. @mrdragon at this point any more money is good money. But it doesn't have to be a lot. I'll figure it out in 3 weeks when i'm home

    5. @snowcone As someone that's spent the past four years working in retail not even making £7,000 a year. I disagree.

Saturday, 08-Feb-14 18:55:13 UTC from web
    6. @snowcone people in the miliatry either had no other option or aren't in it for the money. I fall in a mix of both. If you're not in those categories you're wrong.

    7. @snowcone You've be hard pressed to find a company in the UK that'll hire retail staff full time, managers, yes. But regular staff no, its part time or zero hour contracts.

    8. @snowcone one guy I work with is here on court order. He said if he hadn't joined he would have been out of jail but he would probably ended up in it again so it's helped him.
