My story finally left the front page.... how on earth do you respond to someone that tells you (after he heavily criticizes you) "I'm favoriting this. I like authors with potential." ?

@crusader8 Call him an kiwi and just move on. Don't listen to criticism like that.
-
@crusader8 Wait, what? That is interesting.
-
@crusader8 It sounds to me like he's legitimately trying to help you improve.
-
@paxusjkl hey now, although he heavily criticized me, it wasn't a facerip-fest. he wasn't being a jerk. It was just excessive. Also, who are you? (supposed to sound funny when I ask that)
-
@redenchilada It did, I agree. But the "Oh you, aren't you just the cutest lil author with potential!" thing. This is something that irks me, although I know it does not irk everyone.
-
@noirbatch what is?
-
@crusader8 Newb :S. And as long as it was good constructive criticism, then thats fine. Just ignore the nit-picking. Like "If I were you, I would have X"
-
@crusader8 Did he heavily criticize, then favorite?
-
@paxusjkl Nit picking ain't so bad. I usually dust off the ooc nit-picks off my shoulder, because I know how I'm writing my interpretation of the characters. (to be specific, I typically hone in on how they act in a few episodes that correlate the closest to my story's plot or themes, then go from there). People can't handle a nervous Rainbow Dash, they're just jelly.
-
@noirbatch yeah. Again, this guy was 100% constructive though.
-
@crusader8 I see, just over did it? Maybe he just sees a lot of potential, granted it is just one person. Are you taking it as a good thing?
-
@crusader8 I write about Derpy/Ditsy a lot, and that is very true. Some people interpret Derpy as an outgoing pony who everyone loves, but given the acting of most of the ponies in ponyville (Eg. Them laughing at applebloom and others ponies that make mistakes,) I always write about her being made fun of for being clumsy and her facing the odds! Its all about interpretation!
-
@noirbatch Eeyup. You should read it too, and tell me what you think lol
-
@crusader8 I would love to ^_^
-
@paxusjkl I was actually thinking of using Ditzy Doo in my story, but for humorous reasons. No, not making fun of her, that's insensitive. I would tell you how I'd implement her as a character (she would be important but have no dialogue), but unfortunately I may use it in my 'fic so I wanna keep my trap shut.
-
@noirbatch I've posted the link 3,789.25 times. But if you like, I can link ya ;)
-
@crusader8 Sure spam it to me XD
-
@crusader8 Will you use my pony and btw I am doing good on my fanfic even though I couldnt go to the track today
-
@crusader8 i'm just gonna say it... how do you post something .25 times?
-
@crusader8 Completely understandable. It's hard to write dialogue for Derpy :/ because all we know is her voice, not exactly how she likes to speak. Al I know is she can knock down a town hall and almost kill Rainbow Dash and still be just as happy as before :D and for that I love her, because she reminds me of me!
-
@crusader8 yes please
-
@madykatt with diligence and extreme prejudice.
-
@crusader8 if you are gonna use prejudice, don't half flank it. you must use extreme prejudice or none at all
-
@luckyjack good luck on your fic? By the way, what do you mean when you ask if I am using your pony?
-
@crusader8 Sorry what I meant was will you ever use my pony in one of your stories?
-
@madykatt EXTREME!
-
@luckyjack I didn't know you had a little pony. Tell me more about your little pony.
-
@crusader8 I decided to make mine just like me,he can bet on anything if it moves he can bet on it.I know its kind of lame but that what I figure I am like
-
@luckyjack I don't think my kind of writing could effectively showcase your pony. He sounds like he deserves his own action!
-
@crusader8 but you could help me right
-
@luckyjack I'm no good at actively assisting, but I can talk shop with you or give feedback on things.
-
@crusader8 I am digging the concept behind the bond between unicorns and Pegasi
-
@crusader8 sounds good to me
