@omni Tulpas are basically entities created inside one's own mind.
-
@pony Well, I guess it is quite possible I created them myself, but I didn't consciously create them and I don't want to lose them... They feel real, and I really believe they are real...
-
@omni I don't think that anyone would argue that they aren't real. They're conscious minds, the same as you and me. Am I correct? They just don't have a corporeal form.
-
@omni Right. That's very similar to how tulpas work, except for them being deliberate. Not everypony has what some might consider a gift (and others a curse) for creating them subconsciously.
-
@rarity agreed
-
@rarity That's how I feel about it, yes.
-
@omni Then they're real, and anyone who says they aren't is just foolish.
-
@rarity I find this quite interesting actually.
-
@lyrica Well, I don't really know much about the subject, just what I discovered during a long night of googling. I'm nowhere near the pony you'd want to ask about it.
-
@rarity ah.
-
@lyrica Just google Tulpa and go from there.
-
@pony I guess Tulpas doesn't link to what I have them, as I didn't create them on purpose, am I right?
-
@rarity will do once I have free time
-
@omni As I understand, multiple personalities are not tulpas unless they're intentional, but that's not to say they don't work much the same way psychologically. It's just that inner-awareness and well-practiced control of one's thought-stream make it so that we can control them as much or as little as we like. You might, hypothetically be able to learn how to control preexisting entities this way. I'm not sure.
-
@pony I suppose. I only have limited control over them though, but that's fine, I see no need to surpress them more than absolutely necessary.
