@metaltao thats a really soft definition. I can draw a stick figure with large male genitalia and relate it to how much I hate stupid things I have to do. That has a lot of emotion and purpose and is far from art.

Same http://pny.lv/32d7
-
@snowcone It is dissociative. That other one isn't even a word.
-
@snowcone Aren't you dissociative? I think I remember you posting about it before.
-
@northernnarwhal Blue grass/ folk brony music?
-
@metaltao Link
-
@northernnarwhal It may take some time just wait ok?
-
@metaltao Sure, sorry
-
@northernnarwhal No need to be sorry :P
-
@snowcone Oh neat. Are you still on meds?
-
@metaltao Okie ^.^
-
@northernnarwhal It was like last month on EQD You may need to be very patient XD
-
@metaltao bloody hell your going to have to go through like a million posts....
-
@northernnarwhal AH I FOUND IT! It is kinds not in my taset but maybe ou will like it? http://youtu.be/Adw3QS8aQCY
-
@metaltao *prepares headphones*
-
@northernnarwhal scrub, my mixers been ready for hours!
-
@northernnarwhal It may be underwhelming PLEASE PREPARE YOUR SELF APPROPRIATELY!
-
@metaltao Instrumentation is decent. I really like the female singer's voice but the male singer sounds a bit... off? Lyrics are kind of campy as well. All in all it was alright.
-
@northernnarwhal *sighs relief* OH AT LEAST I WAS DECENT!
-
@metaltao Better than all the brony brostep you hear everywhere
-
@northernnarwhal i literally HATE that word...
-
@l1ghtsword Well I think it's an appropriate term to what is effectively the mangoesization of what was once one of electronic's most artistic and forward thinking genres
-
@northernnarwhal i feel the genre labeling has gotten out of hand...
-
@l1ghtsword It's more for the listener than the artist.
-
@northernnarwhal it really is...
-
@l1ghtsword Also, since I don't feel like writing it out again, here's I rant I posted a while back that essentially explains the difference. http://rainbowdash.net/notice/3367582
-
@northernnarwhal no
-
@l1ghtsword Did you even read it?
-
@northernnarwhal do i ever :/
-
@l1ghtsword Well you should >=p
-
@snowcone Because it's relevant to the conversation and takes all of a minute to read?
-
@northernnarwhal 2words
-
@l1ghtsword Like the word or not, it was created by music fans for music fans to distinguish between two different styles of music.
-
@snowcone Yeah, 60 seconds
-
@snowcone That's relevant and provides a detailed explanation that's a lot better than "because I said so" or something like that
-
@northernnarwhal DO I have to break out the fact that no matter how much one sources their opinions, it is still an opinion, but what is brostep? Is that most of the songs I listen to? The feels I feel? Can I have an example?
-
@metaltao I may have sounded a bit to confronting there...
-
@metaltao Except while liking it is your opinion I'm speaking from an objective analysis of how the music sounds, regardless of whether I like it or not. I explain the basic difference between dubstep and brostep here http://rainbowdash.net/notice/3367582
-
@northernnarwhal But that dosnt work for me, music is not so black and white one style or another. so much can go into your work, the artists style, different production methods, multiple genre styles, etc. Good music is not restricted to a label
-
@l1ghtsword No, but it's amazing how incredibly generic and frustratingly boring brostep as a genre is.
-
@northernnarwhal Thats kinda why i don't like over labeling with a genre. i have tried to make music to fit JUST glitchhop or Just house and i just feel im restricting myself the entire time. there is alot of bad music, and alot of good music that fit the description of a genre but being so specific as to say "brostep" just bothers me.
-
@l1ghtsword It's not overlabeling, if anything if alerts the listener about what they're getting into and helps them find more music they like. If anything, brostep as a term is appropriate because of how one dimensional and variation lacking the music is.
-
@northernnarwhal but thats not really fair, with so many different genre labels it just makes it harder for the artist to live up to one set groups standards of how music SHOULD sound. i dont like to think of genres as a warning, merly a generic grouping of style
-
@l1ghtsword Artists can change and evolve, it's not for the artist it's for the listener (although calling a lot of brostep musicians 'artists' is a bit of a stretch don't you think?).
-
@northernnarwhal this is not just a difference in opinion but a different outlook of the music scene entirely :/
-
@northernnarwhal I think they are artists, I believe simplicity is fine, One dimensionality is fine, it brings people together even when the song is new and foreign to them. It is like a song everyone can jam to. Although it is one dimensional, it is a personal choice, not everyone can appreciate or understand the complex construction in other works, I can't even always follow it to be honest XD Brostep is an appropriate term for it makes people FEEL like they are bros, even if they are complete strangers....
-
@l1ghtsword This is coming from someone who has listened to a lot of different music from a lot of different genres and was following dubstep back before the term was even a household name.
-
@northernnarwhal unfortunately that dosn't mean much to me :/
-
@l1ghtsword Well, all I'm saying is I get more excited when I hear interesting texture and production in my electronic music, or when I here odd chord progressions or rhythms. Brostep is, as I said before, club fodder, and its listeners wouldn't know art if they were slapped in the face with it and just want "wubs".
-
@metaltao You're missing the point, I love a lot of simple music (heck, just look at how incredibly simple Beethoven's Ode to Joy is). But it doesn't take much to appreciate it, the music is uninteresting and is very different from more artistic and thoughtfully produced music that was previously identified as dubstep.
-
@metaltao So following that definition, I don't see how brostep is art.
-
@bakasenpai I had a feeling I was off thank you................................................................................. I

@metaltao no problem......….......................................
