      1. @mk # is a nice live cd if you don't want to use #, # etc. (buzzwords tagged for #)

        1. @mcscx yes, I just found it. Interesting, I've always wanted an independent OS for my 'Nred-on-a-stick' USB thumb with software I can use if I don't want to use the host machine's software (such as in an Internet cafe or at a friend's house). Even if I didn't use the browser bundle this might fit the bill... # :D

          1. @mk @mcscx then again, in a properly-run Internet cafe you cannot boot from a peripheral device (they boot from an image)

          2. Tails is a masterclass in useable security. Boot this CD.

            1. @mcscx that almost feels familiar :D in the late '60s I was on the Dutch internal secret service's list (I was an activist student then)

              1. @mk respect! Btw you can probably use plink.exe to create an SSH tunnel from an internet cafe & access your PC at home w/ VNC to surf safely

                1. @mcscx yes, I should find the time to review the whole thing again - that 'landscape' has rather changed; last time I used an Internet cafe was in 2010 (India), but there are still places where that's the only way to get online; and there still are computers in host's houses

                  1. @mk I have a portable usb stick w/ plink.exe, private key, vncviewer & a batch file creating the tunnel to my own PC. Doesnt write to harddisk

                    1. @mcscx since most Internet Cafes run Windows (exclusively), that looks like a good solution. So, it looks like this will be my next project after rescuing my photos :) (To be combined with TAIL, and maybe a similar solution to the Windows/Dos one for Mac OS X). Should be fun!
