The irony of this whole discussion is this: Whether it's illegal in the UK is /completely irrelevant/. It is not appropriate for the site atmosphere we want to create. We don't want it here. It's that goddamn simple.

@ceruleanspark Regardless, the rules should be clarified.

@toksyuryel "language and behavior should be kept to the child friendly standards of the show itself" seems to cover pedophilic discussion to me.

@redenchilada Eeeyup, sure does. But I'm talking about wrt to other topics which may be child friendly but not legal. Why leave the obvious loophole open when it's so easy close?

@toksyuryel ...There are illegal child-friendly topics?

@redenchilada Lots of things are illegal in the UK for no good reason other than giving the police a reason to arrest you when they're after you for something they can't prove.

@ceruleanspark @redenchilada @techdisk This I understand. I suppose that as long as it's socially accepted like homosexuality or transgenderism it's fine. I won't bring it up any more. I only meant to be who I am, not make a big fuss among the ponyfolk.. honest. http://ur1.ca/9ad83

@pony Socially accepted as transgenderism.

@hakupony I guess I meant that transgenderism is socially accepted on RDN at least.

@pony To be honest, sexuality of any kind really shouldn't be discussed here. But what can you do when even the mods and admins disregard that all the time?
Tuesday, 22-May-12 12:00:40 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel RDN's policy toward the matter (as far as I'm aware) is acceptance. Gay bashing is covered by the harassment rule, and allowing people to be open about the matter on here helps keep the atmosphere relaxed.

@redenchilada I'll acknowledge that it's a touchy subject, but it does the lines to where it's hard to tell what's appropriate and what's not. As far as the show is concerned, talking about it simply is not appropriate at all.

@toksyuryel *blur the lines
Tuesday, 22-May-12 12:07:39 UTC from web -
@toksyuryel Well here's a hint, when the line was crossed, an administrator did in fact, point out that it had been crossed. Then you all started acting like spoiled children who'd been told they couldn't have any candy.

@ceruleanspark I didn't personally see anyone contesting the decision.

@toksyuryel Yeah I'll admit the rules are pretty fuzzy on the subject. Back when it was defined as "PG-13" people were posting all sorts of mess and claiming since it was still in the PG-13 boundary it wasn't against the rules. Now it's worded in a way that implies a more restrictive atmosphere than we want to go for. I'm in no position to make changes, but I do wonder if defining it as "PG or below" would cover the bases adequately.

@redenchilada Defining it in terms of MPAA ratings is vague because a G movie from 50 years ago might get an R rating today. The problem may lie simply in calling them "rules" in the first place.
Tuesday, 22-May-12 12:11:22 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel I think the term "rules" is perfectly fine. At a poolside, for instance, rules are typically defined as "no horseplay, no diving, no reckless behavior", and everyone knows what that means. (Whether they listen is another story.) Honestly, being able to interpret the rules well enough to not be banned isn't too difficult, and we're pretty lenient when accidents and slip-ups happen.
