Does anyone else here just sit down and listen to music or am I alone?
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:50:07 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Sometimes, depends.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:50:30 UTC from web-
@mastertdi I mean, I know the average album is ~45 minutes but that isn't too long relative to a lot of other things someone might do in a day
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:52:55 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Very rarely do I listen to songs by album. A lot of the bands I've most recently started listening to the entire discography of I've listened to on Spotify where it's all shuffled. From there, I will sometimes listen to a song and be like "wow that opening riff is really hella" or whatever and then I'll listen to the entire song religiously for days, but that could be after first hearing it or after skipping over it a lot
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:56:12 UTC from web-
@mastertdi I almost always listen to entire albums unless a song has been released as a single before an album drops or as a collaborative one time song.

@northernnarwhal I don't know why I didn't do it before spotify; it is easier and probably a better experience.

@northernnarwhal I do it a lot actually. But MOST of the time I am drawing so its just background.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:51:03 UTC from web-
@scoot If I'm listening to an album to for the first time I like to give it my unadulterated attention.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:51:51 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I'd do that if I had a better sound setup
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:53:21 UTC from web-
@rarity I don't have the greatest setup but I still feel like it helps me digest the material more.

@northernnarwhal As do I, but after that I tend to pick out a selection of songs and use them as background music while I make stuff, since most of my days are spent drawing and making things.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:59:55 UTC from web-
@scoot Yeah, I'll generally pick out favourites but I always listen to the full album on first listen.

@northernnarwhal I sit in my thinking chair, in front of a 2.1 speaker and play the music I want to hear that day. You're not alone.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:51:17 UTC from web-
@beatstrings That's part of the reason I love my vinyl records. There's sort of a commitment to putting on a vinyl, because you just put the needle down and listen. You can't skip to your favourite song or fast forward, you just listen.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:54:17 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Never said I skip. I just sit there and listen as well. Good music in exchange for a little hour sounds like a fair deal.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:56:49 UTC from web-
@beatstrings I know, but I'm saying that vinyl as a medium requires that level of attention to the music. It makes you listen in closer and appreciate, at least in my opinion.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:59:12 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I don't have a vinyl player nor have vinyl records for sale here. The least I can do is pay attention to the artist's creation. Though it would be fun if I have one, I'll never go out, are you kidding.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:01:06 UTC from web-
@beatstrings Bummer, I love vinyls.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:03:59 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Welcome to the third world, where affordable passion exists, it's easy if you try.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:06:44 UTC from web-
@beatstrings Well, you still have CDs, that's better than nothing
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:08:53 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I have it going for me. Oh well.

@northernnarwhal I usually do it when I'm reading manga or when I'm really tired, I just sit there and zone to a really good tune
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:51:18 UTC from web-
@rarity I can't listen to music while reading unless it's instrumental to be honest.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:54:56 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal most of what I listen to is instrumental/the lyrics don't matter (aka kiwi like Waka Flocka Flame/Gucci)
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:57:58 UTC from web-
@rarity Yeah, WFF's lyrics are pretty disposable
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:58:27 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal that bananas's party music anyway, they don't try to be magical lyricists and don't claim to be so it's all cool
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 00:59:03 UTC from web-
@rarity That's true, although all it means is that there isn't really much to get out of their music. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes I just like a little artistic value thrown in too, ya know? It's like watching a movie with a bunch of mindless action. Nothing wrong with that, but why not establish and develop your characters so I care about all that mindless action?
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:00:58 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal good luck finding hoodrat rap music with real lyrics
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:01:21 UTC from web-
@rarity Lemme help you out. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/768077
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:02:32 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal but none of those artists make what Waka Flocka, Chief Keef, Gucci Mane etc make
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:03:13 UTC from web-
@rarity No, but if I want to party I'd rather just toss on some EDM. At least EDM doesn't usually have really cringeworthy lyrics.
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:06:02 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal that's what drew me to Trap when it was new, but now it's all festival grapes so I'm back to trap musik
Wednesday, 09-Jul-14 01:07:15 UTC from web-
@rarity I kinda like Rustie if he counts
