Well, that was fun. Just took the Dam for a House-run Vegas. Pretty happy with the overall ending I got, too, and it was an absolute joy to see General Oliver's reactions to being given the NCR's terms of surrender. :) #Fallout #NewVegas

@hayseed I was level 50, with all 4 DLC's fully completed (found everything, did everything). That was my House run, and I've previously (around the same time I first started posting on this site, actually) completed an Independent/Yes Man run. Eventually I plan to do NCR and Legion runs too, but I think I'll be taking a break from New Vegas for now, with that second complete run under my belt. :)

@bitshift I did a fully complete NCR run on the xbox before the DLC was out, and that turned out pretty well. Trying a independent one with the DLC on the PC now. I still have a lot to do. Decent stealth weapons would help.

@eaglehooves Pretty much anything Melee makes a good stealth weapon, I find, what with the whole "being silent" thing. The tricky bit there, of course, being that you need to get into melee range first.

@bitshift Melee range is a bugger, so I was using a .22SD pistol and a suppressed varmint rifle to get a ton of crits. Then, as I rose through the levels those lost their punch a bit, and I can't find a true sniper rifle and a 12.7 pistol.

@eaglehooves If you can get to the 188 Trading Post at this point, odds are pretty decent the weapon seller there will have a Sniper Rifle. If she doesn't, also try the Gun Runners' Vendortron (just south of Vegas proper).

@bitshift Negative at both. I can get an anti-material and a suppressor, but that's out of my price range (and I already have .308 ammo).
Tuesday, 29-May-12 02:47:32 UTC from web-
@eaglehooves Well, that's pretty sucky. Only other ones I can think of are all very unlikely, but maybe worth a shot (Daniel Contreras at Camp McCarran _very rarely_ sells one; he's in the supply shack way out on the far edge of the airstrip itself) or behind a Very Hard lock (there's one in a locked case on the Atomic Wrangler's upper floor). Also, the vendor ones require that you're level 11 or so before there's even the possibility they'll have one.

@bitshift I know where those all are, I think it's the level thing that got me (I think I'm still 10). GRA has some seriously strong stuff showing up in stock, so I mistakenly assumed I was at the tier I could get at that. (Anti-material in stock, but no regular sniper? What gives?!)
Tuesday, 29-May-12 02:58:50 UTC from web-
@eaglehooves Yeah, it seems to me that GRA should've added them with level limits, same as the more powerful regular weapons, so as to limit the amount of weapons you have to scroll through that you quite literally cannot possibly afford yet (ridiculous amounts of grinding/gambling notwithstanding).

@bitshift 23k caps by Novac? Challenge accepted. (Not really. I don't have time to grind that hard)
Tuesday, 29-May-12 03:07:17 UTC from web-
@eaglehooves Heck, if I can get to the strip by level 2 (not actually done it yet, but Cerulean helped me work out the details of it quite thoroughly on MSN, and it's definitely doable), I figure someone could earn enough by Novac. It's just really unlikely if they're not deliberately trying to do exactly that.

@bitshift I can see that one. Lots of running and using the caravans for cover would take care of a lot. There's a few ambushes that could get ugly though. (Not slipping a grenade in the Legion commander's pocket at Nipton and getting hit squads right out of the gate would probably help too)
Tuesday, 29-May-12 03:21:33 UTC from web-
@eaglehooves Well, it mostly involves running straight up the north road (and keeping yourself practically pressed against the cliffs once you pass Sloan, so as to avoid surprise Deathclaw). With a little luck and judicious use of quick saves, it's pretty feasible to reach Vegas that way without ever levelling. And then you _could_ earn the money to get past the Strip's credit check by gambling at the Atomic Wrangler, but I'm probably gonna go with helping the Kings (so as to get the opportunity to have a fake passport made) and hitting level 2 as a result.

@eaglehooves Looks like http://www.falloutwiki.com/Sniper_rifle_%28Fallout:_New_Vegas%29 lists a few more locations, but I have no idea how feasible any of them might be for your run.

@thatonepony It's just been poor luck, I guess. There's been a lot of that this run.
Tuesday, 29-May-12 02:50:02 UTC from web -
@thatonepony Because Moore is an dole, so killing her is a-okay?
Tuesday, 29-May-12 03:00:26 UTC from web -
@thatonepony Well, I've not killed her yet, being as I'd prefer to leave the NCR alive when not actively opposed to them, and I've not done a Legion run yet. But given how she acts, I think she is one of the handful of people I will feel totally justified in killing, when I _do_ play a Legion run.
