They wanted $40 for a framed (not signed or anything, just framed) MLP comic from a couple of months ago. They had a section full of "NOTHING LIKE THIS IN THE WORLD" signs and then another sign saying "WE DON'T USE AGGRESSIVE SALES TACTICS SO THAT'S WHY NONE OF OUR EMPLOYEES WILL HELP YOU UNTIL YOU ASK THEM TO". There was an adults-only section and the only difference between it and the rest of the store was a few shrink-wrapped MAD magazines. There were signs everywhere saying "DO NOT TOUCH" and "CAREFUL NOT TO BEND THE COMICS" and "KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR CHILDREN". They had a cheap-looking cardboard TARDIS literally sectioned off with ropes.
But the most hilarious part was that they tried to sell a Rainbow Dash toy from Walmart for $50.Monday, 03-Nov-14 13:00:56 UTC from web-
@redenchilada My local comic shop is quite different. They have mostly cheap prices and the store looks like a wasteland: Dark, small, not a lot space to walk in, everything unordered, a table where the owner and the employee plays Magic cards (or other games) with the customers.

@broniebrown There's another comic shop two blocks from my house that's exactly like that.

@redenchilada I'm so lucky. My comic shop, while far from me, is huge, well-lit, well-stocked (everything from comics to cards to RPGs to board games), and full of nice people. They also have 4 or 5 rooms for tabletop RPGs and they own the store space next to them, which is a huge open room with rows of tables for card tournaments and Table Top Tactics.
How places like you describe stay afloat I will never know. :/Monday, 03-Nov-14 14:10:06 UTC from web-
@theanneh This is why I miss Dragon's Lair. And all of Austin, at that. ;~;

@redenchilada Mine's called Dragon's Lair, too! It's in San Antonio, though.
