  1. Whilst out earlier I snagged this photo because of the sky. I love plays of light like this, praise the sun. http://rainbowdash.net/url/815008

    1. @awlditzy Wow, even from just a photograph that's absolutely breathtaking. Will, you have such a brilliant eye for framing your shots, this is nothing short gorgeous.

            1. @awlditzy Damn, that thing's got good resolution. That and you must have a steady hand.

              1. @northernnarwhal Retina display so yes, it's pretty good. I take multiple shots just in case.

                1. @awlditzy I tend to do the same with my landscapes. This shot in particular is one of my favourites, it's from when I visited Scotland earlier this year. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/815014

                    1. @awlditzy Yeah, it's right up in the highland countryside where you're just surrounded by mountains. Barely a soul in any direction too.

                      1. @northernnarwhal It's almost reminiscent of home, as in where I was born, but our greens were different.

                        1. @awlditzy Yeah, it's not the same here unless you go quite further north. I have a very strong fondness for desolate landscapes though, maybe because they're so tranquil.

                          1. @northernnarwhal Same here because it brings back some of the better memories in my life. Namely the quiet times in the Caucasus, the calm before the storm if you will.

                            1. @awlditzy Ah, that sounds lovely. There's nothing quite like staring out into the barren emptiness of the world before you with nothing but your own thoughts. Especially when you know there is much drama to come in the near future.

                              1. @northernnarwhal Some of the times were scary as cherries too, but I find those times as good to think about also. First mission we had we got dropped in the wrong zone and got separated, I missed a pickup. Had to walk for 5 days outside of a hot landing, to base.

                                1. @awlditzy Good lord, that sounds awful. But I guess the scary times provide good life experience. It's sort of a cliche but I think "face your fears" is still an incredibly valid and powerful phrase.

                                  1. @northernnarwhal Nothing like a baptism by fire to set the tone for your tour.

                                    1. @awlditzy Yeah, that's the sort of thing that teaches a human being to adapt and respond to their surrounds. We're really such amazing but fragile creatures, aren't we?

                                      1. @northernnarwhal Yes we are, and at the same time can be horrible things. It's hard to be a misanthrope in a complete sense because there's enough about our species to respect.

                                        1. @awlditzy Yeah, sentience and higher level thinking is both a gift and a blessing. It's amazing how my cat can sleep all day and be entirely content with the transience of his existence (not that he's aware of it anyway). I've really been trying to make a conscious effort to just let things go and start thinking just about what's in front of me.

                                          1. @northernnarwhal We all should man, and really best of luck to developing the mentality to its fullest.

                                            1. @awlditzy I can only hope that time will yield more answers. Either that or I'll stop asking so many questions.
