today sucked. how was everyones day?
Monday, 19-Jan-15 23:55:01 UTC from web-
@bakarainbowdash My day's been boring. Nothing's happened.
-
@bakarainbowdash It was alright, mostly just studying and sketching in my notebook in my free time. Very slow day.
-
@northernnarwhal sounds relaxing
-
@bakarainbowdash Sort of the calm before the storm when exams start Wednesday
-
@northernnarwhal i didn't have school today so i studied too
-
@bakarainbowdash I went to school to pick up some review package, though I spent a large majority of the day reading notes and taking breaks to doodle/sketch.
-
@northernnarwhal it was MLK day so we all got the day off
-
@northernnarwhal Pretty good. My studying has been going well.
-
@bakarainbowdash Oh yeah, I heard about that. I live in Canada so it was a regular day here.
-
@awesam17 What are you studying?
-
@northernnarwhal :P my mom made me go see the new movie Selma because it's about Martin and the civil rights movement. verey violent and depressing movie if you ask me
-
@bakarainbowdash If it's violent and depressing it probably did an accurate job of portraying that time period
-
@northernnarwhal well, the violence was mainly white policemen attacking black protestors and bludgoning them with night sticks or shooting them and it was depressing because it actually happened
-
@bakarainbowdash It's depressing because it still happens
-
@northernnarwhal yep. the fergussen shooting and the long island shooting wre only about a month ago
-
@northernnarwhal physics mainly
-
@bakarainbowdash Yeah, and it's not like there aren't other cases that don't have massive media coverage either
-
@awesam17 Ahh, physics. My old nemesis. I'm working on some functions work right now.
-
@northernnarwhal those i was in a peaceful protest against it. but color discrimination isn't the only problem. MLK jr. solved the colored problem about voting but immigrants still have a hard time.
-
@bakarainbowdash The other problem is while removing political barriers is the first step, removing societal stigmas is the next. Racism is still sadly very real.
-
@northernnarwhal yeah. raciam is still a very big problem. no amount of laws can actually change the way peoples minds think of others
-
@bakarainbowdash My day hasn't been too bad. I didn't have to go to college today, and I was also able to go into work early.
-
@northernnarwhal ugh functions "gags out numbers"
-
@bakarainbowdash I'm very happy to say I have a very diverse and varied group of friends from all different kinds of cultures and backgrounds. It's helped mold me into a more understanding and accepting person, or at least I like to think so.
-
@awesam17 Tell me about it ;_; I'm glad I'm getting my advanced functions exam over with first. Logarithmic functions can go die in a hole.
-
@northernnarwhal since i go to the towns only public highschool, we have people from all different countrien around the world who speak all different languages. we also have all different races and discrimination or bullying on account of skin color or race can get you suspended. my friend group includes lots of different types of people and i think of them as equals and good friends
-
@bakarainbowdash I live near Toronto, and generally the whole Greater Toronto Area is actually really culturally diverse. There generally isn't actually too much of a racial dominance in any direction at my school.
-
@northernnarwhal yeah. racial dommonance doesn't really exist in my school either. if you think about it, thats really lucky that we don't have to deal with this problem in our everyday lives even though it affects the whole world
-
@bakarainbowdash I'm lucky my school community is generally pretty cool and accepting.
-
@northernnarwhal yeah. i actually feel lucky to get to know all these people from different countries.
-
@bakarainbowdash I sort of grew up in between two radically different cultures too, so I've generally grown up to be accepting about that kind of thing.
