@tiffany Recently I decided to try a few episodes of Death Parade since the concept seemed interesting and Studio Madhouse is usually pretty good.

@tiffany I admittedly don't love it but one of Madhouse's better known works as an animation studio is Death Note if that helps put things in perspective. That being said, I really love them for their more experimental works like The Tatami Galaxy.

@northernnarwhal I was gonna rewatch Death Note but it's so... like, not childish obviously, but it has that 4kids sort of vibe that I don't like? I dunno.

@tiffany The first half of it is pretty solid but it suffers from really awful pacing and characterization in the latter half. Ending is pretty good though. As I said before, I don't love it, I just think it's alright, but it's really popular so it's a good example. Kind of like saying "Radiohead are the guys who did Creep" in the sense that it's far from their most accomplished work but definitely some of their most popular.

@northernnarwhal When I was like 11 it ("it" in particular being that part in the middle I'm sure you can guess) certainly had an emotional impact on me, but so did the finale of Yu-Gi-Oh. I disliked the dialogue greatly even though I remember it being quite clever in the middley bit.

@tiffany Ultimately I believe the strongest points of the series are its premise (and accompanying moral connotations of said premise) as well as some of the (albeit a bit obvious) religious symbolism. And as I said before, the first half is for the most part pretty great, it just falters later in. Overall enjoyable show though, just not stellar.
