                        1. @northernnarwhal It looked into CHild Favoritism or something and domestic violence as well as to how pride can change all great men. Or soemthing. It was a while ago, but it impacted me greately.

                            1. @northernnarwhal It was, it taught me that Family is not necessarily who you are born with, but who you surround yourself with. Home is where the heart is.

                              1. @metaltao How is the author's prose and style?

                                1. @northernnarwhal It is modest, and nerdy. It reminds one like they are reading towards an interviewer while not being the most comfortable with sharing what they learned and saw, but doing so because it must be said. I don't remember much, but he always carries this air of indifference about his family and you can sense he does not feel right within his skin.

                                        1. @northernnarwhal I'm very rarely fond of troubled teen perspective novels but Tangerine is good.

                                          1. @zazie Yeah, one of the only troubled teen perspective novels I really enjoy is Catcher in the Rye.

                                              1. @zazie No, I need to get through the rest of Nine Stories. I have read A Perfect Day for Bananafish and Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut though.

                                      1. @metaltao Well I mean, a troubled teen perspective can be a good thing. Just that I've seen the motif handled really poorly in the past.

      1. @rednorth But I'm not blaming anyone or anything. I'm not saying they became popular through illegitimate means either. I'm just saying they're an overrated band, ergo, the popularity they hold doesn't equate to the quality of their music.
