Most proud of this shot but maybe a little too grim because of the sky; will take one in the summer for like a contrast and try to get the precise frame. Looking back at old photos from when I only had a little Nikon it was not at all bad but the iphone is just easier to bring along. http://rainbowdash.net/url/820354

@awlditzy I dunno, I'm kinda digging the grim atmosphere of the shot. The way the water cascades against the fading ice gives a sense of renewal and passing.

@northernnarwhal That visual aspect of the seasons changing, is precisely why I went down there to take the shot. 20 miles for one perfect photo, at least the most indicative one I could conjure for the time. I might really like photography.

@awlditzy You've got a natural talent for it, that's for sure. You have a very organized way of framing your shots, with a balanced focal point that grounds finer details as well as a knack for combining elements of the symmetrical and asymmetrical.

@northernnarwhal Sometimes in the Caucasus all I could do to pass the time was just watch the wildlife. I think in those cases I developed an eye. Maybe beforehand. However that's for sure when I developed an appreciation for it.

@awlditzy I should get back into photography sometime, I remember I used to really enjoy it.

@northernnarwhal Was your priorities on landscapes as well? I got that feeling from what examples you've shared.

@awlditzy Yeah, landscape shots were my favourite for sure.

@northernnarwhal Easier to work with compared to people/fauna, because of being static. Out of bias I'd also say more potential for impact.

@awlditzy Yeah, though I didn't work with a lot of specific flora. A lot of the stuff I did was all about encapsulating large spaces. Isolation is generally a pretty big theme in lots of shots too.

@northernnarwhal Most of the time I snatch a shot that's spot on the moment but there are days like today I think about a specific site. I like my photos the most when they're full of green and sunlight.

@awlditzy Here's an interesting shot from when I was in Scotland. It's the clock tower of Edinburgh Castle. Really strange perspective but I kind of like the way it looks. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/820358

@northernnarwhal I'm a fan of that sort of angle as well for some reason. There are a few photos I have from Florence and Padova that are like that simply because I liked what I saw.

@awlditzy I think, with the mud and the crumbling style, it can't be much other than Grim... But, this really fills me with wonder.
