I make no sense right now.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:05:59 UTC from web-
@metaltao No, surprisingly for once what you're saying makes perfect sense, Metal.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:06:24 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I like that. Making sense is,... It hurts my heart, but no one else's will.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:08:13 UTC from web-
@metaltao Basically emotions have pros and cons but are ultimately better for us.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:09:35 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I always wanted to break my feet off, tehy always hurt, but they still carry me.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:09:49 UTC from web -
@northernnarwhal @metaltao They make life volatile and shifting. Without them you have a steady, easy and completely neutral life. No bad moments, no good ones. With them, the ground shakes constantly, but if you keep your balance you truly enjoy. If you trip, it hurts a lot.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:11:12 UTC from web-
@nerthos I'd honestly rather live a life where I enjoy emotional highs and deal with emotional lows than have no emotions whatsoever and live a cold, mechanical, and passionless life.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:13:33 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal That's pretty much the choice. Security or a gamble for happiness. It's up to each to decide.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:14:35 UTC from web-
@nerthos I'll personally always make the choice for emotion, I don't see the benefit of cold and distant just for the sake of rationality. When you stop viewing yourself as human you start to not view others as human too.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:19:17 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal You don't really stop seeing yourself as human, unless you deliberately give yourself a perception bias. You just start seeing humanity in a /slightly/ less esoteric way. It's nowhere near as "robotic" as people would have you believe. Only real difference is that your highs and lows are both fairly close to the mid point, and you're better at keeping your cool.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:23:54 UTC from web-
@nerthos There is that inclination to distance yourself however, at least my experience with it. However you did say it's OK for those who can control and I can agree with that.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:25:41 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Yeah, you distance yourself, that much is true. You stop being in the middle of the crowd, and instead stand on the side, watching the crowd move, walking freely to each side.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:29:26 UTC from web-
@nerthos I never minded that truth be told. I still have the habit to watch.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:33:16 UTC from web-
@withdrawl I have to say it's pretty nice to do it
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:33:55 UTC from web-
@nerthos Yes, even better is to be the most polite person and make them wonder what you're faking and what's really you.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:36:02 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Politeness is always useful. If you have the patience, it's the best way to go about it
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:36:58 UTC from web-
@nerthos I don't know what's more fun; being genuinely polite to people who in turn smile and go through their day brighter, or being indignantly polite to an asshole who's obviously trying to make your day worse and catch them completely off guard.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:38:45 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Both are pretty nice

@nerthos I feel like I'm talking about a state of being emotionless and you're talking about keeping good composure, which are completely different things.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:26:13 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal No no, I'm talking about being emotionless, but not due to a medical condition like depression or the like. You don't forget things, even if you don't feel them.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:27:04 UTC from web-
@nerthos I'm not talking about medical conditions either. But I'm saying there's a difference between not outwardly expressing your emotions and being deliberately emotionless.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:30:10 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Yep. And I'm talking about the latter. The former, you just build up pressure until you explode.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:31:17 UTC from web-
@nerthos Yeah, I've had personal experience with the former and that's exactly what happened. Now I'm just more forthright about how I feel emotionally.

@northernnarwhal As someone who forced upon the latter yeah the former's better unless you're faced with banana that'll break you.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:15:33 UTC from web-
Ask me the same question in a few days I'll probably say, 'boy I wish I was back in it so I'd have a reason to shut down'.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:19:03 UTC from web -
@withdrawl I guess at least having something to break in the first place is better than having nothing at all to break, no?
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:20:36 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Except watching people break, some my friends, it was difficult to say that much less think it. If nothing else I felt need to be stronger for their sake.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:22:18 UTC from web-
@withdrawl That's the human condition for you. I guess we've had different experiences though, and I can only speak from my own. I guess I really do value my humanity a lot.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:24:00 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Truth be told I don't know how much humanity I have left, but that's just an issue needed sorted out.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:26:23 UTC from web-
@withdrawl You seem human enough to me, for whatever that's worth.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:27:00 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Kind of hysterical with the computer screen and the anime girl avatar and all. Or in my case a letter.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:28:19 UTC from web-
@withdrawl You should know by now that we're all connected to The Wired
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:28:49 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal watashi wa kami sama desu
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:29:24 UTC from web-
@withdrawl this is beautiful
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:33:36 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Probably incorrect too
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:35:19 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Probably, but I don't know enough to really say so
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:36:51 UTC from web -
@withdrawl I believe the proper way to write it would be 私は神です
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:40:27 UTC from web -
@withdrawl Or I guess a more literal translation including the 様 (sama) honourific would be 私は神様です
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:42:08 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I don't remember if he ever said 'kami-sama' or if that was just Lain when addressing him.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:42:50 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Probably, since she would be addressing a specific deity and not be talking about an abstract concept (sort of like God or gods in English, but there's no actual way in English to properly describe 神)
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:49:34 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Maycan has 'tzen' which might be as close to the concept of it as possible.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:51:20 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Kami isn't really a "god" figure as much as a "life force" or sorts found in nature, animals, the universe, etc. But kami can exist in anything animate or inanimate, so if anything it's almost like a more spiritual version of Plato's Theory of Forms when you really think about it.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:53:43 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Or a little like shamanism. In that case I'm thinking of the Maycan word 'edzuoye'.
Monday, 23-Mar-15 02:58:05 UTC from web-
@withdrawl Sort of, though Shinto is considerably less concerned with altered consciousness and divination.
