I'm putting together a video of Splat Charger highlights

@redenchilada I wish I had a capture card so I could make highlight reels of some of my plays. My brother is planning on picking one up during the summer though, so that'll be nice.

@northernnarwhal This is probably the most I've ever used mine (mostly because my laptop can barely manage enough power to use it in the first place)

@redenchilada My brother has played Splatoon but as of right now he wants to get the capture card for some of his Smash highlights.

@northernnarwhal Definitely one of those two for Smash. I believe the LGP's cheaper, too, so that's another plus for it. The only other ones I've used was a Hauppauge something-or-other (fried itself at random one way, and was the most expensive capture device I've bought) and a Dazzle (S-video at best, so not for modern consoles). These all work with USB too, so they're good for laptops.

@redenchilada Oh hey yeah, I'm checking some local prices and it's floating in and around 200 bucks, that's pretty good. I'll keep the LGP in mind.

@northernnarwhal Oh? I guess it isn't cheaper, then. The Elgato was $150 or so

@redenchilada Oh yeah, the Elgato is only around $140 here.

@northernnarwhal What kind is he getting? I use an Elgato but I know a lot of people who would rather recommend a Live Gamer Portable (since you can record PC-free with it).

@redenchilada He hasn't decided on a brand yet, right now buying a capture card is more of an idea he's simply posited rather than a purchase he's fully researched as of yet. I will keep those brands in mind though and pass them onto him, I'll sure he'll appreciate the advice.

@redenchilada I generally stick to weapons in the shooter and roller classes but the times I have used a charger I've found myself preferring the Classic Squiffer
Monday, 01-Jun-15 19:36:07 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Yeah, shooters and rollers are good. Chargers I'm... not so good with.

@redenchilada Chargers will probably be a lot more viable as play options once the Splat Zone play mode in Ranked Battles becomes available, since then the fact that players from both teams will be constantly filtered to specific areas in the map will facilitate the need for long range support. Chargers by nature kind of conflict with the framework of Turf War, where you pretty much always have to be on the move and cover as much ground as possible, since they're a more complacent weapon class.
