                      1. @metaltao With the dawn of the internet, it is continually becoming harder and harder to hide from spoilers for your favourite shows.

                          1. @metaltao Actually, yeah! Especially in an age where media is a more active part of our culture than ever before, it makes sense that how we engage with our media would become crucial to our culture. For some people spoilers can bitter their media engagement experience, while for others it can heighten their ability to bask in their media more critically due to foreknowledge.

                            1. @northernnarwhal Yeah, but I was thinking more of teh counter Spoiler Culture, the one where people purposefully try to spoil something. Either because they know a friend and want to mess with them for fun, or, because they find the whole idea of hiding discussion about a show ridiculous.

                              1. @metaltao Well, I figure both being supportive of or averse to spoilers fall under the umbrella of what we would define as "spoiler culture".

                                  1. @metaltao Honestly my policy is avoiding talking spoilers in public places (unless it's a platform like this where it can be censored), and when talking in groups ask before you divulge. If I'm the receiving end, more often than not I don't care about spoilers, but it's something I've been specifically very excited for I'll probably try and avoid them.

                          1. @caret7 Well I mean, "email" has ostensibly been around since the 1960s. When I say "the dawn of the internet", I'm speaking more along the lines of the explosion of internet culture that's arisen in the past 10-15 years.
