@metaltao Sorry to hear that, is everything alright?
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:13:58 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Far from it. For a while it seems.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:14:35 UTC from web-
@metaltao That's saddening to hear. If there's any way I can help please let me know.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:22:20 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Aye. I will. It's just all so indescribable
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:22:50 UTC from web-
@metaltao I'm not sure what you're going through specifically, but for what it's worth I'd like to share a song I really like that's all about coming to terms with life and the sadness it can bring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZc2ylAwRf8 I hope you're able to get through what you're dealing with.

@northernnarwhal Heh, thanks, but I'm not the one with the problem. It stems from my friend. If only I had the infinite wisdom to help someone clear up their confusion about what to do with their infinite uncertainties. I don't know. kiwi it would even be nice to comprehend how to clean my own appleing room. But anyways, I recognize this vocalist. (But not the weird chick in the background)
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:39:48 UTC from web-
@metaltao The vocalist for Bright Eyes is Conor Oberst, who has a pretty distinct singing style that tends to emote a lot. You can usually tell if he's singing on a song once you hear it too. The female vocalist in the background of that song is Emmylou Harris, who's an older folk and country singer-songwriter. You might know her from stuff like Making Believe.

@metaltao And hey, don't feel too bad about your room! Mine's a mess too, haha.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:45:39 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal high five! For rotting oranges and broken stone!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:46:17 UTC from web-
@metaltao Here's to "organized chaos"!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:47:48 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal "You see, it's not a mess, it's a study in thermal dynamics! Entropy!"
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:48:32 UTC from web-
@metaltao You see, my room is an isolated system, so its entropy never actually decreases!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:49:30 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Hahahah!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:49:50 UTC from web -
@northernnarwhal That's a good one.

@northernnarwhal You're welcome~
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:50:32 UTC from web -
@northernnarwhal Have you seen the Martian? spoiler:
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:53:28 UTC from web-
@metaltao Yeah, I saw it back in 2015 and really enjoyed it. I thought it was one of the best Ridley Scott films I've seen in years.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:55:08 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Yeah! I am not often a fan of movies, but wow, I loved it. Saw it with a friend during a video call and it was great!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:56:16 UTC from web-
@metaltao I made a small post about it here back after I first saw it, actually http://rainbowdash.net/notice/4019257
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:57:34 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Oh! Sorry! I'll read that!

@northernnarwhal THOUGH! The use of a rotating space station is bull. Even though it can produce G's, you need a 100 M diameter ring that is the length of two ISS's and when you stand, you'll be disoriented by the fact that your head is spinning faster than your feet which would normally be the other way around. My god!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:57:53 UTC from web-
@metaltao I'm sure the film wasn't entirely scientifically accurate, but it never really broke my suspension of disbelief. The narrative itself was well grounded, and for the more ambiguous portions of its science it didn't jump through hoops to explain or justify them.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 06:59:39 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Save for the station but yeah! It was surprisingly well grounded! Hell, I loved the inclusion of the moons of Mars off in the distance. How far away and small...
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:00:54 UTC from web-
@metaltao That being said, despite actually being a sci-fi fan I wouldn't say scientific accuracy really matters to me much at all in films. I'm usually more invested in a film's emotional logic than its scientific logic, personally.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:03:00 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I'm quite rooted in many things, but when it comes to scientific logic, I instinctively call bull. But I get people who don't do that, it's a film. It has a message to get across and isn't necessarily our reality.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:04:29 UTC from web-
@metaltao Yeah, many films are self contained and work contextually on their own sense of internal logic, so as long as they're able to sell that logic to me effectively I'm okay with it.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:07:32 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Formalism is nice, isn't it? Sometimes a character's belief or genuine expression is so convincing I'm immediately convinced in what ever they believe. I love that!
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:09:41 UTC from web-
@metaltao Yeah, to me successful writing is more along the lines of a piece of art being able to provide feelings like the one you were describing. When a narrative is able to sell its narrative and themes to its audience its internal logic is in turn successful.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:12:28 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal It's kind of like selling or a store? My mind has kind of blown up right now.
Monday, 18-Jan-16 07:20:07 UTC from web-
@metaltao I guess when I say "selling" in that context I mean "convincing", like in the sense that you sell an idea to someone.

@northernnarwhal Aye! Like a pitch almost!
