  1. “When I first met David [Bowie], electric hand dryers were making their way into public washrooms for the first time, and I was absolutely terrified to use them—I was certain they’d melt my flesh off. But David believed they were safe, and to prove it, he passed his hand underneath one several times in a row. I begged him to stop, crying that he’d never be able to play a guitar again, but, true to his word, the machine did no harm. And while I still don’t fully trust hand dryers, I’ll never forget how cool and fearless David was that day.” - Mick Jagger

    1. @tiffany David Bowie always seemed pretty willing to embrace new technology, which doesn't surprise me considering how much he would embrace new styles of music too.

        1. @tiffany If you've got a solid 16 minutes to kill, this interview with him is really amazing https://youtu.be/FiK7s_0tGsg Among other things he talks about artistic muses, the evolving state of the music industry, and later in he makes some really insightful observations on the internet (considering how the interview took place in 99).

            2. @bashrc He did. He had a subscription based ISP he'd started around a year prior to that interview.

              1. @northernnarwhal @bashrc yeah I seem to remember it. I was never really a big Bowie fan though, so didn't pay much attention.

                1. @bashrc I was pretty young at the time, but I've been a huge fan of David Bowie for a while now so I became aware of little stuff like that.

                      1. @bashrc Ah yeah, I've heard about this but haven't actually played this myself. I'm more familiar with his work in music and film.
