      @awl I think something to keep in mind when evaluating media is that effort does not necessary yield Good Things, and it isn't proportional in any way to what could be considered meaningful artistic choices. In this case, there are lots of different and disparate tools that all make up the wider whole of film craft, and the utilization of those tools to construct a film shouldn't be limited to or strictly engaged with by means of a set quality level via traditional metrics or scoring of aforementioned tools. The long and short of it is a film that doesn't have as much detail in some of its craft elements doesn't necessarily make it worse or less meaningful, and there's no hierarchy of film craft tools.
