apple, nearly everything about wine culture is cynical and sometimes just elitist.

@metaltao Wine culture is full of ivory tower high horse types, but wine itself can be pretty enjoyable as an alcoholic beverage
-
@narwhal Oh yeah, the making of wine is amazing and full of tradition and pride. But, the consumption of it is Blegh

MetalTao likes this. -
@nerthos What in the sam hell is this? XD
-
@metaltao The thing though is that the consumption is part of that tradition and pride that you're talking about. Wine is a cultural celebration, it's specific people who inhabit said culture of wine who bring the pompous elitism to it.
-
@narwhal Aye, I understand.
It's like tea or Coffee in that sense.
Both are amazing and delicious with history and culture with all kinds of variety in them.
but, they all have one unifying factor!
Assholes. -
@metaltao Elitism develops in many cultures, especially when there's a clash of rich history and popular appeal.
-
@narwhal Aye, By the way, I do understand that and I understand Wine has a lot of culture when it comes to drinking it. It is again like tea.
It takes it's roots all the way back to our second earlierst invention which was Alcohol. -
@metaltao A guy drinking wine. To show you that not all wine drinkers are pretentious.
-
@metaltao I remember when my brother went to China he brought back this traditional leaf tea that he bought there and it was just incredible, easily the best tea I've ever had
-
@nerthos OH! I did not see the O, I thought it merely said O... and I was confused as to why one would call, esspecially someone like you who has said they drank before, alcohol disgusting
-
@metaltao Huh? you mean the brand name? It means "big" basically.
-
@nerthos Ahhh. I would have questioned that, but I never saw the O.
And, aye, I understand not all wine drinkers are pretentious. i have a lot of wine aficionados. My Mum and Grandmother are on that list. -
@nerthos Also, how yah doing mate?
-
@metaltao Over here wine is more of a traditional/family drink rather than an elite thing. Of course there are some really good wines produced locally, wine expositions and all, but the big majority of people who drink it are either the cheap wine drunks, or mid-to-old people who drink it at the table with food. You know the kind that always have a cup of wine with lunch and dinner?
-
@metaltao Doing fine, went to a birthday party yesterday, just relaxing and chatting today.
-
@nerthos living in Italy, in which wine is treated in the exact same way, is what made me appreciate wine in the first place, and not drink it to get drunk either.
