@mmn Question about external links with picture: Sometimes #gnusocial imports and displayes the picture of external links (by plugin StoreRemoteMedia) - sometimes not. Why this difference? Or does the external link needs some special format or additional info?
-
@hikerus Link endpoints that have oEmbed, OpenGraph or are direct image links should embed stuff.
-
@mmn Hmm - if I insert a link from eg NZZ, the picture of the article is displayed. But I don't find any oEmbend or OpenGraph stuff in it. But when I insert a link to a WordPress blog the picture isn't displayed.
-
@hikerus Without example links I have a hard time helping. For Wordpress blogs I believe they require you to choose a certain picture to represent it as an image.
-
@mmn Yes of course you should have a real example ;-) eg. https://social.bitcast.info/url/56967
-
@hikerus That link (nzz.ch) has OpenGraph data. Look at source and search for 'og:image' for example.
-
@mmn Ok, thanks - will check.
-
@mmn But og:image seems not to be sufficiant to display the image - I tried with a blog post https://social.bitcast.info/url/57650
-
@mmn All meta tags og:title, og:type, og:image, og:url, og:description, og:locale, og:site_name are in the code of the linked post from Wordpress - but the image isn't displayed in GS.
-
@hikerus So which WordPress entry are you trying against and are you sure it's not cached?
-
@mmn Here the link on the post https://social.bitcast.info/url/57656 - AFAIK there is no cache.
