          1. @yata Oh. I'd honestly call you an... the term is always confusing, so I'll just say eaglelandian. As far as I'm concerned, second or third generation immigrants are considered first and foremost citizens of the country they were born in. Now, if you have dual citizenship, you can call yourself a Mexican, but otherwise I'd say go with American or whatever term you like the most for someone from USA. I'm fourth generation German and third generation Spanish, with dual Argentinian-Spanish citizenship, but I just go with Argentinian unless I have to be really specific.

            2. @yata @nerthos serious note i'm basically the great-great (hazy positive number of greats here) -descendant of pan-euro immigrants

the most ethnic thing I do is eat spaghetti and meatballs

imagine the feeling when I'm supposed to explain to the liberal arts class how I have no real ethnicity to identify with

              1. @eris @nerthos @yata 'merican is a legitimate ethnicity imo. so is yankee, if you got born in the objectively wrong place

my family's been in the county i grew up in since before the revolution, i'm 100% pure 'merican

                1. @zz It is, but for whatever reason people insist in separating everything there.

              2. @eris I really enjoy Spanish traditional music and food, as well as history, and I'm thinking of learning German to explore that side more; but I'm otherwise completely Aregentinean in ethnicity. Except for the people who are stuck up in clinging to their grandfathers' homeland and don't want to assimilate, which are a minority, the only differences in ethnicity here are what foods you're more prone to like.
