    1. @tiffany only those who know everything is pointless are able to transcend it, or something along those lines.

    2. @tiffany because both parties cooperate to keep third parties unviable at the state level and have been forcing "lesser evil" choices on me longer than you've been alive.

        1. @tiffany Well you're right most people just throw up their hands and quit. It needs to be fought at the state level in all fifty states separately. There's a Mexican standoff with electoral votes, most states are winner takes all so whomever gets a plurality in the state gets every electoral vote for the state. If you assign them proportionally you lose political strength, some states have a proportional assignment pact to try to get round this that will kick in automatically if enough states sign on.

I don't want to say the whole system is rigged, but at the state level a lot of things are coded into law that shaft third parties completely. Which wrecks their ability to participate in presidential elections. Literally the only thing that can fix this is being politically active at the local level, by the time it gets to the presidential election, voting for a third party doesn't accomplish much . gotta work from ground up, and man is that daunting.

          1. @moonman I was aiming my post more at the people who say "not voting means I'm making a difference!" as I do understand that voting third party is the second most helpless thing you can do but that groundwork's gotta start somewhere

            1. @tiffany voting third party at least elevates prominence of that party at the National level, you're right. I'm just kinda shell-shocked from the people that always threaten how you're helping X party win if you vote for third party Z. I can appreciate people saying "well Trump is really REALLY bad" but like, we let it get this bad by always voting tactically for the less crap candidate. Voting third party is better in the long run than doing that,or not voting.

                1. @moonman At the very least I hope 2016 will be something of a wake-up call for a lot of people. I've tried my best to inform myself and others as well as I can so that's a consolation if nothing else

                  1. @tiffany @moonman People don't want to wake up because that's work.  Being on autopilot is easier.

            2. @tiffany I think it's very reasonable to not vote. However, you then must spoil your ballot to be counted as not voting. :)
