@nerthos a game that has no graphical upgrades from it's console version, struggles to reach a stable 60 FPS on 2 GTX 1080's. That is sad
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:45:14 UTC from web-
@rarity Well, it's ok as long as it runs, but as far as AMD cpus goes, it only works on FX and A-series. Phenom isn't supported, which has caused a lot of returns.

@nerthos who the hell uses AMD cpus anymore
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:49:03 UTC from web-
@rarity Over here? most people. I'm on a 1100t which is great. Bought it in 2011 and it stll runs anything on max. So don't diss AMD.

@nerthos Now No Man's Sky has some serious problems. But I don't think people with 8 year old processors (phenom) should be surprised new games don't run.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:52:32 UTC from web-
@rarity Considering it's literally the first thing that has had any sort of issue, and as far as performance it holds it's own with anything that isn't high end, there's no reason why the CPU's age should be an issue.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:53:50 UTC from web-
@nerthos the CPU's age matters because usually games are programmed by modern standards that may not work optimally on older architecture. Or maybe I'm talking out of my ass in this specific regard, and it's entirely NMS' fault. But when you run on obsolete hardware you should expect problems.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:56:15 UTC from web-
@rarity If I were running a sempron yeah, it'd be obsolete. Phenom II is by no means obsolete, and is still widely used.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:57:03 UTC from web-
@nerthos you initially said Phenom, not Phenom II, big difference when we're talking obsolescence. but It probably just is NMS' problem
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:59:12 UTC from web-
@rarity Yeah, I meant Phenom II, should have been more specific. I assumed people would assume the late series as Phenom 1 IS obsolete.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 23:00:01 UTC from web-
@nerthos and that's where the confusion lies. Because I thought you meant Phenom 1, and from that perspective I was making my points
Friday, 12-Aug-16 23:01:03 UTC from web-
@rarity Yep, if I had noticed that, your argument would have been totally valid to me.

@rarity Also the other issue is that they DIDN'T specify that certain CPUs weren't supported, they just released min specs.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 23:09:49 UTC from web-
@nerthos well it seems like their CPU minimum is just "intel core i3" so that's really descriptive
Friday, 12-Aug-16 23:10:37 UTC from web-
@rarity If they put JUST a little less effort, they could have just put "requires PC" there.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 23:13:14 UTC from web-
@nerthos looking at the textures and draw distance it'd expect it to run on integrated graphics. They certainly better fix that because there's no excuse for it NOT to look better on PC

@rarity Dev olympics: with disciplines like hardware incompatibility, poor optimization, and release disappointment.

@normandy @rarity @nerthos Wont work on most of anything, evidently, looking at the boxes of people still having issues with it.
-
@maiyannah Torrent first, buy when you know it'll work. The best CYA there is.
Friday, 12-Aug-16 22:56:06 UTC from web-
@nerthos Gonna be watching to see if GOG keeps carrying it given their usual line about returns.
-
@maiyannah Depends on how fast they release fixes. If they take their time, GOG will likely end the contract.
