i get really mad at the news media
-
@rw why?
-
@maiyannah you're just trying to rile me up aren't you
-
@rw No. I don't see the point in getting angry at them. It's exactly what they want, and it feeds the narrative. They paint themselves as the educated elite, and the average person like you or I as angry, uneducated, reactionaries. Getting mad just gives them what they want. It feeds the beast. You shouldn't.
-
@rw As the old saying goes: don't get mad, get even.
-
@maiyannah But I don't do anything about the anger other than write really long articles. My feeling of anger is more of a feeling of intense grief and intense disappointment in humanity. The only thing I can do is ignore the media, but I don't think it's fair to say "don't get mad, it's what they want". I think there's a difference between being a reactionary that would get on social media and call people jews, vs how a lot of us here feel.
-
@rw Is there? What's the difference, then?
-
@maiyannah What's the difference between baseless insults without a point of discussion or evidence to back it up, vs a focused effort to appeal to humanity.
I mean I know I only get like 700 reads on papaya I write but screaming at people and calling them batcaves isn't going to 'wake' anyone up. I hope at the very least out of the few hundred people who read the stuff I write, that at least 1 person will be encouraged to stop listening to the media.
The media angers me, but most of it is rooted in the fact that people still think they can trust it. If the trust goes away completely, I'll have no problems.
