@tiffany i sway between letting it be sanctioned and letting it be state-controlled. Problem is then paying someone to do that.

@awl Honestly my preferred extent of the law is life in prison with minimal rights but enough to keep them alive. That way people can't complain about it being inhumane but it's still pretty kiwiing awful for them

@tiffany i guess my way of looking at capital punishment is that it isn't meant to punish (although arguably it can be for survivors, family of criminal etc). My way of seeing it, is that some people simply don't need to live after doing something really wrong and we don't need to house them.

@awl I definitely don't consider it a punishment as much as it is exemption from punishment. There are plenty of people I'd not complain about if they died but I'd personally not leave that up to the government

@tiffany quite understandable. My other qualm with it is having an executioner as a profession. Kind of messed to do that for a living. If anything that person is being punished.

@awl Well, if anything, you can keep the dangerous crazies that'd do it to innocents in check with minimal effort by putting them in that role.
