Sorted my "connectivity" for now - partly by disconnecting one of the two routers. Now I have at least half-way functional internet for one of the two laptops here. Then reorganised data structure for financial information - on Tine and USB stick (it will later have to sit on Dennis, but this is already complicated enough for now). Now, I need some sleep and then #tomorrow I'll have to change (or cancel) an appointment: I simply cannot afford the travel time. *sigh*

@mk I suspect dual routes to INET may need special configuration, otherwise devices may be unable to choose which route to use at which times.
-
@mk two routers? Do you have two different internet connections?
-
@mcscx yes. Temporarily though: I just cannot get rid of one yet before the end of the contract period.
-
@mcscx I find networking confusing enough at times, but this quadruples anything I've ever tried. Trying to reason myself out of it has failed so far.
-
@mk why can't you shut off one router and disconnect it from the phone line (the one you don't need for telephone)?
-
@mcscx I can, but: no phone line that matters, I use only mobile; the one router to be given up doesn't use phone line but cable - the one good thing about it is it's a lot faster than the new connection, so I'd like to use it for uploads/backups. Currently it's off though and the new connection is more stable now. What stumps me is there seems to be interference even if I use only cabled connection. For now I use just one line, I have a deadline and no time for these puzzles... :-(
