Ugh, I can't choose a desktop environment/window manager. I've tried GNOME3, GNOME2, KDE and awesome. Are there any important ones I HAVE to try? !Linux

@mushi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNOME, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE_Plasma_Workspaces and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awesome_(window_manager). They're Desktop Environments (and the last one is a Window Manager) which pretty much takes care of how your system works, where your options are, what you can change, etc. Pretty much everything you, as a user, see.

@omni #Enlightenment (0.16 and 0.17 are very different so try them both), Antico/RazorQt, #XFCE and #LMDE
