    1. @bitshift At least you're not on fire.

      1. @minti No, that was at the start of the run. I had one potion on me, and was going to die of burning otherwise, so I figured "what the heck", and luckily it was fire immunity. :)

      2. @minti Also, I have now died to the goblin that the totem hasted, so that one's now in the folder as goblins.broguerec if you want to watch me basically eat/drink everything I find, and generally endanger my own safety. :)

          1. @minti It's like Nethack without all the "wait, what does this do? *checks wiki* ohhhh".

        2. @bitshift Do the potions and staffs and such resert every game? Or is the crimson potion always ininerate etc? xD

          1. @minti Resets. Once your adventurer has encountered it in a run and seen its effect, they'll recognize it on sight (well, some roguelikes have a rare amnesia effect that wipes ~1/4 of your discovered items), but each new run resets all the appearance/effect pairings.

            1. @bitshift Ooh, awesome. So I can't just memorize my way to the bottom. xD ONWARD TO BURNING STUFF. #

              1. @minti Plus most potions have slightly different area effects to personal effects (for example, drink a potion of descent and you just teleport down a depth level; throw one, and you make a temporary pit that opens onto the next depth level), and it can be fun to just throw them anyway.

          2. @minti Of note is that it doesn't have to affect you. If you're not sure of a potion, and not in a safe place, try throwing it at an enemy. If it's a bad effect, you just attacked. If it's a good effect, well, you get another hilarious death/near-death experience. #
